Soundwave was always able to make the ground bridges in Prime, but how did he make the space bridge that sent Airachnid to Cybertron's moon? Wouldn't that have been useful to use more if he had that ability? And he never used it again after? Is there a story behind this? I googled and searched this forum and found nothing.
Ground bridge, space bridge, they're all the same, they're transportation devices. He only used it once, to get Airachnid out of the way. It should have been used more in the show as a combat ability.
He just had a portal projector built into him that was interfaced with the Nemesis' Groundbridge. Once the Decepticons had access to their own spacebridge he interfaced with that too. He can only act as an extension of a nearby "Bridge", not actually create his own.
Ah ok, thanks. It seemed strange that the Decepticons put so much effort into building a space bridge and it was near impossible for the Autobots to do. I was wondering how Soundwave just conjured one up.
In SEASON 1 and 2 the Decepticons needed a space bridge to travel to Cybertron, that's why they built another when the first blew up. The writers just forgot about it in Season 3 and had space bridge working randomly without the need for the huge gate. Just another cheap contrivance they had to do to force the story to work. They also had that crazy retcon in the Season 3 premiere where they suddenly acted like Smokescreen was the last bot to pass thru the bridge and went back to Optimus even though in the season 2 finale you can clearly see him pass before Ratchet. Ratchet even turned the bridge off after he passed, went on his way, and turned the bridge off again, so there is no logical possible way for Smokescreen to have been able to return thru it.
I thought they were saying that Smokey was the only one who came back, not that he left last. I'll have to rewatch that now. :/
Not only that, but Ratchet even says "Smokescreen was the last to see Optimus", as if Smokescreen left last. They were flat out hoping audiences would forget what really happened... but forgot that the PREVIOUSLY ON flashback showed that it was bullshit.
