Dude, with all the work you're doing with this I would pay 30 to 40 bucks if this was a garage kit for the TFPRID bumblebee mold
Don't worry, I totally agree. I had just chalked it up to the transition from 2d to 3d when it lost some of that vibe. There were a couple other alterations I had wanted to make when I get around to adding in the panel lines, so I'll probably spend some time playing with the geometry of the face then. Thanks for the input.
Thanks so much. Unfortunately I had some family stuff that needed my attention for the past few months. I plan to wrap this guy up after the holidays.
I've been following this thread for quite a while, and may I say, it's great to watch the process! Can't wait to see the finished product!
I ditched the head and neck completely, and started over. The result so far is right on the money with my concept art with the exception of the jawline, which I just couldn't get to look right in 3d.
Aww, I liked the old head. But I like this one, too. I do think the chin should be sharper. Have that nice point at the bottom and sides. It's a little too "organic" but, well, it's not finished so I know it'll look better by the time your done.
While the old head was definitely really cool and menacing, it was almost too curvaceous and had a bit too much shape to fit in with the Tfp aesthetic, as @Preventer said. I never really noticed just how flat and plain the Tfp faces really are until now. This new one looks much better imo and I can't wait to see the whole project thrown together in bot mode.
Yeah, that was a large part of what I wasn't into about it. It's easy to get carried away with detailing on a screen, but I have to remember that I want the end result to blend in with the rest of the line as much as I can make it. This is with the modeled head photoshopped into the concept art.
It's coming, I swear! I am just at what has been the hardest part of this project for me: 3d sculpting. It's getting there bit by bit though. I modeled the panel lines on his head, so that's another thing I can count done. I've made them to be as wide as each of the lines sculpted into the top of the deluxe Vehicon's head so that they don't look out of place.
i apologise for making this a zombie thread, but this looks awesome! is this still ongoing or a cancelled project? again im sorry for making this a zombie thread and for wasting your time
Still ongoing. The completion of this project is how I earn myself a seat at the 3D design Jedi Council, and I don't think my skills are there yet. But, the truth is I have a line of stuff being unveiled at Botcon in October that I'm rushing to wrap up. I may or may not have a jedi apprentice rat tail braid thing. I'll leave that to you to decide.
I can confirm it's not dead he's been busy but hopes to come back with finished pics either this or next year.
