That's good to know, thanks. I had liked the hammered metal texture because it was so unique for a 3d printed material, but knew that kindnof finish wouldn't work for these kind of products.

So uhm...do you accept firstborns as payment for the files or...?
I'm not exaggerating when I say that's potentially the most impressive 3D printed transformer I've ever seen.

I would really like to see this in bugly's and g1 venom's color schemes, but even if its mass produced, that's never going to happen.

Thanks! Honestly, I am still impressed with many parts of this thing. I don't know about "the best 3d printed transformer", but just being among them is an accomplishment in my books, as there are so many talented artists up here.
I am very happy to have people to share with that understand and appreciate the thought and work that goes into these types of projects.

Really quick update, right in the middle of switching payroll companies whilst preparing year end tax info at work, so It's a busy time.

Printing, adjusting, then printing. Some of the parts actually printed well, some needed a good amount of work.
I am almost through all of the parts now, looking very promising!

The head was a bit tricky.

    IMG_20220328_055222797.jpg IMG_20220328_055913429.jpg

It did have to be broken up, but it will make painting the visor(or separating it to print as a separate color someday...maybe?)

    IMG_20220328_055448727.jpg IMG_20220328_055453077.jpg IMG_20220328_055459089.jpg IMG_20220328_055503752.jpg IMG_20220328_055539046.jpg IMG_20220328_055653485.jpg IMG_20220328_055657878.jpg IMG_20220328_055659611.jpg IMG_20220328_055702672.jpg

I am printing these parts using polylite PLA, .2mm layers.

The material seems ok for early test prints, but is a bit soft, and tends to creep under load. I am hoping that PETG will be a bet Tougher.
I am having a good time so far, the printer just prints stuff and overall I am pleased with the print quality and accuracy.

I now have fine tuned the joint tolerances, but still have 1 more thing that I want to change in the footular region so that he is even more stable.

I do also still have an extra material issue(blue arrow below) going on that is keeping everything from coming together(red arrow) that I need to fix.
    IMG_20220415_070024091_HDR[1].jpg

But otherwise I think that it is close to being able to put L's and R's on some parts and get this beast out there.

forgot to screw on the middle bug legs! and no time before work to go that far back, but you get the idear.

Can't quite hit all of the tabs, I need to take a bit of material away from the chest so that the arm connection can settle in a smidge more.

Just an update to let anyone interested know that I am still plugging away, and it is going well. Just want to get it as close to perfect as my 3d printer will allow!

As usual my intent will be to share the files for free.

The only issue for me is sucking making assembly guides and maybe putting together a list of the pins and screw sizes needed.
I am curious to know if anyone with this skill set would like to maybe give it a print and throw something together for others.
This on is a pretty serious print, I think that there are 113 parts in all. I would really like it to be something that a lot of people can print and get put together with as much ease as possible.
Work is happening, gotta go! be back soon.

I would love to take a crack at making a guide but unfortunately I'm in the middle of a move into a smaller place and not even sure if I'll have anywhere to set up any sort of workshop/printing area for the foreseeable future :(

    This thing is absolutely amazing!

After seeing APC release that Airrachnid custom from years ago, I'm now finding myself hoping that you and APC can come up with a way to get this beautiful bug made.

Great job regardless though, you can tell that a lot of love went into this guy.
