When Hasbro lost balls to bring Animated to sweet end, fans take control and bring exclusive piece of history to live, but only for someone?

Do not get me wrong, but this is something what I am waiting for almost 8 years.

Ah, understood. Apologies on not knowing the regulations on that, don't mean to have caused any bad feeling.

I honestly do not get all the teeth-gnashing for fanfiction.

Bear in mind that since the book is perfect bound, not stapled, scans happening would require somebody being willing to bend the crap out of their copy.

As I said earlier, while I may be wrong, I do recall some talk of a pdf release from the creators. That would resolve such an issue. Do not hold me to this though.

This isn't official so it's outside the wiki's purview.

There is absolutely a reason for a limited quantity, for two reasons:

    1 - It's a non-profit book.
The thing is £6 and honestly, having it in hand I'm stunned they got that much quality for only £6 a book. Full colour perfect bound. Wow. What that means though, is if even one copy didn't sell, the con loses money. It's a huge risk. And as obvious as it may seem to us that people are interested, there's a massive contingent of fandom that doesn't care about fan stuff at all. Their loss. But you never know.

No-one was paid. No writers or artists were paid. It was a labour of love. No profit, it's not a commercial thing. There's no flex in the system. If they printed 300 and 200 sold, that's £500 the Con loses, straight up for no reason, as there's no profit from the sold books to cover the loss.

2 - Not to anger Hasbro.
Fan stuff exists at Hasbro's whim. They could bring the hammer down at any time, and have in the past if something is too professional or starts to rival their own stuff, especially where licensees are concerned (thinking of Fighting is Magic here, which got shut down as Hasbro were making deals with games companies at the time). If TF Nation mass produce their own comic and throw the doors open to everyone rather than just a Con then, then they're actively setting themselves up in competition with IDW. Why would IDW pay Hasbro a license fee if they let anyone mass produce a professional quality comic book. Hasbro would have no choice but to call in the lawyers to protect their interests. Basically the bigger something is, the more of a target you paint on yourself.

There's plenty of other fanzines online, why not check those out in the meantime?

Nor do I. As nice as this is, this isn't season 4. It's just an Animated fan-comic based on really rough, early outlines for season 4. Without the actual TFA writers and creators involved this is no more important to me than any other fan-made work.

That said, it is hecka cool and for TFA fans it's nice to see that universe kept alive among us. I haven't forgotten Animated, and it's nice to know there's creative and passionate people out there who haven't, either.

I see it now, it makes sense, Hasbro bitchin' sometimes very well.

Let's hope for something, even if I have chance to read it once, I would be so happy.

I will echo this sentiment, though I'm curious how much it will cost. Alternatively, would some kind soul scan and upload this for the online archives?

There's nothing stopping people from organizing to make additional TFA content roughly in-line with canon except people themselves, unfortunately. For example, I've had completed outlines for both a TFA Warpath spotlight and a "Season 4" 2-part encounter with Bludgeon and his pirate crew in Detroit... aside from a first attempt at getting a creative team together for the Warpath comic that was derailed by having my first kid, I've done nothing regardless of how willing I am.

Demand is there, creative minds are there, and the capabilities of linking and networking are there, and the best reason of all- the 10th Anniversary- should be producing more works. Unfortunately it seems we won't be getting much great TFA content this year...
