Having found five minutes to do my own thing, I finally went back and had a good long look at the meshes I've been using up til now. Some are OK, and actually work, but others really need a real bashing...

Also sorted out tileable 'floor' textures, and separate shadow frames (which still need a little work position-wise, but things are coming along). :)

So, as promised far too long ago, here's something for Kickback:

Also did a few resize tests with other meshes:

Then realised a potential problem with combiners...

They're bloody enormous. (Well, duh, but you see what I mean.  )

And finally, I'm half-way through this one...still working on the bot mode!

    C&C more than welcome! :D

It's my own idea for an action RTS that I've been messing around with concept-wise for years. One of these days I might actually get somewhere with it, work deadlines permitting...

i would sell my soul to the devil to see this RTS realized.

pls finish it. i pay in M&Ms.

seriously, devy looks a bit chunky. maybe narrow his hip, plus the design motif on his thigh could be more retro. (that one looks DW-derived.)

the animation for kicky looks spot on, especially the springy effect.

    Awesome job!

For an RTS eh? What problem do you foresee with Combiners? Just limit their speed (both for advancing and turning, giving superior range and speed bonusses to smaller units) and also limit the max range they can be active in and if they have one add a recharge thing on their gun; also put in a seperate components requirement to be in proximity to be able to combine. :)  Then it can be made balanced quite easily as the seperate components would be important for moving around, yet vulnerable at the same time.

Cheers for the comments, always appreciated! :thumb

KA: Devastator's one of the models that's going to get reworked; the hips and thighs were actually taken from artwork in the Generations book. :)

Quint: I didn't mean so much of a problem in how combiners act/react, just that dealing with 512x512px sprites without eating tons of VRAM is going to cause me a few headaches! Especially if there are more than one of the buggers on-screen...

    Josh: Thanks very much! :D

Again, thanks for the kind words - thought you might appreciate the Cosmos one, Primus! :D

Here's a couple more resizes of existing non-transforming meshes - both are going to get total rebuilds at some point, but right now I'm just using them to get scales sorted:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

And speaking of scale, I'm a tad concerned I might have to go back to the original sprite size, considering the size of this one:

Especially with the possibility of all five Dinobots and Devastator on-screen at once... :redface2:

smangerbot, KA: Much appreciated, but I wouldn't want any money for doing it, games are my line of work! :D  Besides, the only thing I'm ever short of is time...

    Zero Prime: Thanks!
