I haven't read through the entire thread, but are we completely sure this is intended to be an "MP" figure? It seems a lot more CHUG-y, or even Binaltech-y than something that's meant to be a definitive G1 design.

I do like the look of this one. MT better be careful. People will probably only buy one of the two, and if Mt doesn't do it right they could lose a lot of sales. C'mon TFC! You can do it! :)

Not gonna lie, I don't think MT is scared of this in the slightest. I like TFC, but I think they dropped the ball if their intended target market is the same as MTs. Gun Dog destroys this as a G1 MP figure. If TFC's aesthetic goal was something else, then more power to them, and I hope it finds it's intended audience.

As much as I like TFC's stuff even I have to say this is not a very MP like robot mode

Their ironhide isnt bad but they missed a lot of the little things that make up what a MP hound should look like I think. for me its just another classics upgrade masquerading as a MP figure because of its size (assuming its large like their ironhide).

Damn if they didnt do a great job on the altmode though

TFC should just re-categorized their Old Soldier series to "MP scaled" and not "MP". "MP" should have both scale and aesthetics.

Maketoys' Gun Dog is more streamlined while TFC's Detective is more like blocks glued together. They sure can't get away from that blocky look.

I really like TFC's ironhide, and I don't mind the blocky look on him. I think it fits. But on hound, it's just not close enough. He just looks like a generic random cybertronian.

I gotta gut feeling they will. On that note I would not be surprised it would be 95 bucks

Semantics. It's fine. If gp and ft can both survive releasing dinobots, TFC and mt will do just fine as well. Herc and giant both sold well. There's a market for both of these.

TFC got more of the retro Jeep parts accurate but Maketoys has the win with that bot mode for me. The forearms transforming looks a little weak, but I like the rest of it. Might have to remove the mirrors from the Jeep though they're a bit chunky

Nice!! Although I tend to get initially excited about these releases, but then they come out and we end up with the disappointments that were Ollie, Sonic, and Tempest. :thumbdown  Hopefully after the stellar quality of Transistor we're in for better things from now on, but I'm still stinging from those other releases. I simply need time to heal.
