All the work on I-85 is mostly finished and it's much quicker to get to Uptown Charlotte. I'd say 10 to 15 minutes from Concord at most as long as it isn't rush hour. They've also finished I-485 which has made traffic a lot better as well.

They must be doing most of the finish work at night was stop for over an hour cause they had the highway block while working on an over pass. All taffic had to get off 85 take a 1 lane side road for a mile then get back on 85. That was back in March of this year

This will be my first con, and the whole family is going - wife and kids, too!

I've got a few general questions and would hugely appreciate any guidance any seasoned pros can throw my way:

    1. Can anybody provide any ballpark guidance as far as how much I can expect to shell out for autographs?

    2. How difficult is it to get autographs at the con? Are separate tickets required for autographs beyond the normal weekend admission rate for the con itself?

    3. Can I expect to be in line most of the day to get stuff signed?

Most autographs are easy and about $20 to get. Lines can vary depending on who is there. Just keep an eye on schedules, and lines don't always last very long

The nice thing about the guest set-up IMO is that they are available almost all day. So if you come by and there are a few people in line you just come back 15 minutes later and you should be able to catch a time where there is maybe 1 person ahead of you, allowing you to chat with them, get an autograph and/or photo with them.

Awesome, and thanks for the response. With two kids in tow (one of whom is super excited), I'm trying to make sure I know as much as possible going into the con!

I just bought a weekend pass! My first con since Charticon.
I'm still looking for a roommate if anyone wants to split the cost of a hotel room.

Hey, I'm gonna drive up from Columbia SC and I'm looking for someone to room with too. Unfortunately, unless its split amongst a huge group I know I don't have enough money to stay at the convention hotel itself.
I was looking for close by hotels/motels for cheap if you're interested. I found some for about 30 bucks a night. It'll be my first ever transformers convention and I'm pretty hyped. Shoot me a private message if you're interested.

Hey, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I'm by myself for the moment, so it's only me footing the bill for the room so far. And as tempting as the cheap hotel rooms are, I already had plans to stay at the con hotel.

So excited for this con! Hotel is all lined up and I'm buying the tickets this week. Gonna be a blast!

Anyone know if there's going to be a buy/sell/trade board like I've seen at other conventions? I've got a couple Botcon sets and other stuff I'm looking to sell off, so I'm curious.

Found money in the budget to go to this. Never been to a TF Con before, anything I should be aware of in advance?

Not a complete stranger to conventions, as I've got a number of SDCC & NYCC under my belt, as well as one Botcon. But anything in particular to look out for would be appreciated.

Will there be signs or boards announcing Parts Parties or general Fan-to-Fan trading anywhere at the con itself?

Take a look at TFCon 2014 in Chicago to get a good idea of the events, but it should be on par with what you've experienced in the past. Though I will say it will probably be a bit more intimate and not as stringent as far as how long you can talk to the special guests and things like that. Also, the bar will be full the entire time, lol.

Yes, these should be in the common areas where they can be found easily.

There's always parts parties that are held in the hotel rooms, shouldn't be a problem
