Is this something I should be concerned about selling out? I'm hoping to go on Sunday but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it yet..

    Did Chicago sell out?

Saturday is more likely to sell out than Sunday.

Oh I'm sorry I do want to ask, about how long is the Custom class, I see it started at 9AM in the past, how long does it typically go on for?

Friday is the first day when the weekend passes can be picked up. However, you can also do this early Saturday morning. It is also a good to go sight-seeing. Also, there were opening ceremonies on Friday night.

There are different panels on Saturday in comparison to Sunday. You can check last year's schedule.

During or after each of the three days, people love to hang out with each other. Last year, I got to hang out with Garry Chalk and Jerry Newman then the next night, I was hanging out with Michael Bell while waiting for a pizza.

The custom class is several hours long.

I have been to the last 3 TFcon USA conventions.

I signed up for Friday's customization class, in addition to getting the weekend pass and t-shirt (normally don't care for shirts but since this is my first TFCon and maybe my last ~ hope not, I decided to order it as well). Not sure of the customization class though. It sounds fun but do we need to bring/buy our own bots to the mod class or will a specific figure be distributed for modding the morning of?

The bot is supplied as part of the class that way everyone has the same thing and it can remain structured. It would cause some chaos if someone showed up with a Trypticon while everyone else has deluxes. They will announce the bot for the class probably in August along with the con exclusives.

This will be in place of Chicago. Looks like they decided to travel this year. As I live on the outskirts of Baltimore, I'm glad I FINALLY get to go to one of these. Also gives us a chance to revisit the Air and Space Museum where part of TF2 was filmed. I asked FunPub for YEARS to give us a location like this.

According to TFCon, the customs figure will be announced closer to the convention. I'm hoping it's the same Primal from the MMC Seraph Prominion vehicle that Toronto's getting. Maybe a Burning Convoy version to segregate the two conventions.

I'm just imagining some of the customs we might see. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I'm excited!! I'd like to book my hotel now, but it looks like so far it comes to about $600 for Thur-Mon. I have a friend going, but if we were about to get at least 2 more people on board that'd only be $150 per person for 4 nights. Anyone interested? Preferably ladies as I'm a gal.

Try AirBnB, that's where I found our place through. It ended up about $30 cheaper per night.

That's a possibility, but staying in the same hotel as the conspace is super convenient. I really enjoyed how everything went last time.

I would but I am coming in on Friday in order to minimize the cost and time away from RL. Plus, my roommate has lots of gear for the convention.

That's cool, hopefully its not a lame shelfwarmer. However, I see the positive in taking a shelfwarmer and modding it to make it less so. As well, if it is a shelfwarmer then i'd probably not lose a night's sleep at the con due to some big screwup throughout the class (breaking something unrepairable). It would be chaotic if someone showed up with Trypticon, I think people would lose focus on taking away the positives from the class.

They always chose a third party figure to use in the class. Something cool but without a lot of kibble and a more sleek design that is easily painted and modded.

Yeah, you are correct. Yesterday, I hung out with a couple of guys who are taking the customizing class. I won't quote officially and I can be way off base but the bot to be modded is by MMC and the parts that will be used is created by one of the guys I hung out with.

Sorry if this was answered, I'm just jumping back into this thread now. I am interested in doing the weekend. Does the weekend pass sell out? I am waiting for more guests to be announced before I am 100% sure I'm going. As of right now I am not sure if I am going to TFCON DC or HASCON.
