I'm just gonna chalk this one up to OCD.

While Reformatted has been largely IDW-influenced throughout its run, it didn't start that way, when they began the line with Hexatron and the Predacons. Essentially, it's just become their catch-all line for everything that isn't directly based on the G1 'toon designs.

Some of that change in design ethos also comes from switching up their primary designer. Cassy Sark headed up the line in the beginning, and a few of his base designs cropped up throughout, but he got pushed out eventually as the company heads started to favour IDW more.

Ah yes I’ve heard of this one. I dunno. I’m not sure it’d go too well. That’s really stretching it for me at least.

Producing repaints undoubtedly lengthens the timeline between new product releases.

That's why I put the qualifier at the end "going by pure numbers", meaning that, while all number of internal deadlines have probably been pushed along the way, in the end, they've still kept pace with their competitors, even with the greater percentage of repaint releases.

I was pretty interested in that Grimlock they revealed a while ago but with the relaunch of the comic continuity, combined with the long release time-frames for modern figures (from all manufacturers), IDW stuff has kind of become less of a draw for me now.
I'm pretty much waiting on the last two DJD figures and then I'll be done with that scale and continuity... unless someone gives me a proper gangly Whirl of course. Need me a skinny psycho robot!

@Paik4Life has a video of this guy up on his youtube channel, loving that Deadpool head. If Vortex is available soon it's going to be a tough call between the two for me as I can only really afford one purchase this month.

Probably, but hopefully also funds the war chest so they can make riskier, more expensive figures like the remaining DJD members, Inventa and the like. I'm fine with them endlessly cranking out repaints if it means SURPRIEZ MP SCALE BROADSIDE or something ridiculous later.

Why did it have to be Deadpool? Now I’ll never be able to get a copy :(

I'm glad people like the deadpool head deco. No idea who on the team had the idea but I was certainly glad to make it happen. Pairs nicely with the fact we're including all the weapons with this one.

Kinda funny in retrospect this variation literally only exists cause I really wanted a red one. :lol

Eagle eyed folks may also notice the chest plate was also revised. Not as blocky now, engine details sit further in to the center.

The inspiration for the original SG Drift was Deadpool, so I'm pretty sure that idea's been in the ether.

That's true? haha nice. Weird though I never looked at SG Drift originally and thought "oh Deadpool!" oh well nice that we've come full circle on this then and literally made him look like deadpool now.

I brought up the Deadpool reference to Penguin1 awhile back. Originally we were going to try for a Renderform deadpool inspired head, but time didn't permit. Not sure who's idea it was for the head deco. It's brilliant.
