This was the previous version of this mold. Senator Ratbat from the IDW stories before Soundwave made him into a cassette. This guy was released for a Con around the same time last year as an early release.

This year they added a new head, changed the color scheme and maybe tweaked a few other parts. Not sure yet.

I honestly think it's a cool and clever way to reuse a mold for a fun Con Exclusive.

A lot of folks may be grumpy because MMC has reused this particular mold A LOT. Even the Ratbat above is a remold of an already existing mold. I think this is around the ninth time the base mold has been utilized for a release. I like it a lot but I can understand people being tired of it.

 

Meh...Im not into superhero stuff. 

 

The Drift/Stray mold has enjoyed several remolds and recolors. I don't mind too much as it's one of my favorite MMC molds, but I do agree it's getting kind of ridiculous haha.

It's MMC, what do people expect? They also managed to squeeze a lot out of the Tarn mould.

Yeah, that's my thoughts here too.

I know we have gotten new molds from them for Con Exclusives in the past but it's not nearly as common as a recolor and/or slight retool.

And this is definitely a fun one, I really dig that they had some fun with this Exclusive.

 

They also teased a batman reference accessory earlier. Forgot which thread it was in mind you

 

I dont think this should be considered an Onyx Primal homage at all btw, it's just a coincidence cause that mold was based on Batman and referenced Batman's mask design.

Not to mention Onyx Primal has a white helmet and no mouth, while this has a black helmet and a mouth like Batman does, as well the body doesnt have gold details on it.

 

Onyx Primal is a Predacon assassin who turns into a bat.

Onyx Prime is the member of the 13 who invented beast form and was sometime depicted as a centaur.

Still, the name here is Prominon, which seems to be the MMC name for "Prime".

I'm not really sure who this is. Is it supposed to be Onxy Primal in Cybertronian mode?

Damn! Oh well, I’ve already committed to this one, I’ll have to grab Ultio at a later date as finances allow. Thanks for the heads up though.

 

Should have done it in blue as the Adam West Batman, and made it Shattered Glass Ratbat. ;-)

This is true...lol. I actually have Roller and Thunderclash, currently waiting on my Tarn preorder. Love the mold and appreciate they made enough changes to each one to make them different from one another IMO.

Yea no problem, I actually was looking to get him myself a few weeks back but there's a few other MMC figures I'm trying to get first, so rather put the money towards that instead but hey, at least this new exclusive is cheaper and I think looks a bit better. I really don't have any mostly black figures so definitely scooping this guy up. Plus I like Batman, it's a no brainer..lol

 

I already said this earlier, hence the earlier post. I think you're missing my point. I already knew the two, just correcting someone.theyre pretty easy to distinguish honestly, with one a bat and the other of the original thirteen

And yeah, this is probably onyx primal in cybertronian mode. If you use any bw continuity, they were mostly in cybertronian modes until they arrived on organic planets. I for one think this could also act as sg ratbat, as sg ratbat was basically batman.

Did they say when this is going live tomorrow? I heard something about 10am EDT for the TCP stuff, but I haven't heard anything about TD and A3U...

Same here. I would like to see more than a bust and an altmode to get an idea of what the figure looks like.
