Was there news of the customisation class figure?
TFcon DC 2019 Customizing Class figure revealed
Didn’t make news headlines I see?
Get in line at like 7am. And be prepared to have your nostrils offended the whole day.
Go early and hope for the best.
I went to tfcon Toronto the year the first phasing sphinx came out, went first thing Sat morning, paid the extra $20 or whatever for early admission, went straight to A3U table and was told already sold out. Was extremely disappointing and turned me off from ever attending another tfcon.. Maybe just bad luck but there were a lot of grumpy fellas all in the same boat.
One thing maybe to keep in mind is if they release numbers like only "500 made" that doesn't ecessarily mean they will bring all 500 to the con to sell.
...been pining for this version of Mirage for years. Now I just hope I can get my hands on one.
There are often a few leftovers that get put on the planet steel express site. Good luck!
Wasn't OM's yellow Terraegis a 'Con exclusive too? But it ultimately went up for sale at all the major retailers. Given that A3U and Toy Dojo are involved, I'm guessing it will see at least some sort of release with both those shops. Also, since the reactions here seem to be pretty negative, maybe there will be enough stock to trickle out to those of who are interested? I suppose there's enough people out there who buy stuff just because it's limited to make that latter guess a bit far fetched though.
I checked and they (well, Toy Dojo, but I assume A3U is in the same boat) said they're allowed to carry him after the show, but they don't have numbers on how many they'll have yet.
I think also cause that figure wasn’t that popular.
I think you're right, and am kind of hoping that sort of lightning will strike twice. I have the yellow one and I think he's great, looks wise. I've been idly hoping someone would do a G2 Mirage ever since I first learned of the deco years ago, it's just so unique. But clearly it's not for everyone.
It’s possible. I’m gonna buy mine online on the store anyway if they’ve got it for presale.
I'm keeping my eye out for that too but IIRC they didn't put the other convention exclusives up until after the event.
Maybe not DC but Zinnia was up for preorder before or possibly when the convention was happening.
I’m so glad that he still kept the pilot figure and that he’s in bright pink translucent plastic.
Is there any word that he could have the toon heads or will it just be the toy?
I'm fine with the toy head but I would be curious how the toon head would look, would be great if we had the option. I will admit that in the photo at least the toy head does come off as really angular and abstract. It could use an accent color to break it up a little bit. Granted, that appears accurate to the source art, but for a figure and not 2D art he really needs something to give him a sense that he has an actual face. There's a lot of late-80's/early 90's neon colors to choose from, but I'm thinking a little neon or electric yellow on the eyes and maybe in the slats on either side of the face would really make him pop. Maybe a bright silver on the bottom half of the face or something to differentiate it a bit.
Yea, I get that. I had a similar instance with Botcon a few years back. Got on a line to be told I needed a ticket for that, got directed to go "over there" for said ticket, to get redirected to go "over there", just to be told Tickets and items were Sold Out.
The face is painted a darker green and the eyes are gold. A lot of the internal structure parts I also made a darker pink color vs the brighter magenta of the main pieces.
Not to mention that what we are calling the "toy" head isn't a direct reproduction of the original toy head's feature. For example, the forehead on the toy has those two horizontal cylinders to either side of the crest. The face is also recessed into the helmet whereas the original toy's clearly wasn't.
If anything, the features on the toy suggest a helmet more like Sunstreaker's in regard to "ears" just with a rounded hood for the back of the head.
This head, at best, is a hybrid of the cartoon's helmet/forehead and sharper angles of the toy's face. This makes it a fairly decent representation of the MP10 Masterpiece theme.
