At least it is sort of free
The only way we'll see the second exclusive soon, is if it's released at the same time. I kind of doubt they're going to do that.
Comparing the art to the color scheme of the actual figure, the micromaster helicopter will be blue with black or dark grey bits and the paint apps could be yellow. Might wind up looking a lot like Coptur, actually...
But weren't the Seacons and Nightbeat released at the same time?
OK, I just received the TFCC magazine this morning. In it they show the concept art for Dion that's on the website, but they also show a photo of the deco for his vehicle mode. Mostly orange, but with tapering blue stripes and a big blue Autobot logo on the door. Looks decent enough.
The Mini-Con is not present in the photograph. There's no mention of him having one at all, so I'm just going to guess it won't be included.
Incidentally, the final Animated techspecs are Cliffjumper and Cosmos. And there's a bio for Shattered Glass Galvatron where he's clearly based on..Cybertron Evac's mold??? Could that be their next exclusive?
Anything on their 3 big announcments?
They don't exactly SAY which ones are the three, at least not that I can tell, but I think I can guess.
Dion is the first, certainly. Cat's out of the bag there.
The second one I think was mentioned here also, it's about the Master Collector paper being phased out entirely and replaced with an auction website.
And I believe the third would be the Punch/Counterpunch preorders which are supposed to start this month. (My subscription is over in a month, I hope they pull through!)
Makoto Ono did the robot mode, Jesse Wittenrich the alt mode... Wait till you see the profile. Thing of beauty!
Does he have someone else' color scheme, or is it original?
Cool! Thanks for passing along that info! Yay no more master collector. I always tore the mag out and pitched master collector.
Now, SG Galvatron is interesting. The club said (at Botcon I think) the other exclusive would be a voyager. Cybertron Evac Mold? Check.
But they also said no more SG figures. Hmmm curious.
Things could've changed I guess! Can't wait to get my preorder in for PCP!
tobad he's not a legends wheele repaint with a new head
He's got G1 Galvatron's color scheme.
Hmm. You would guess an SG Galvatron might have Magnus colors. Interesting!
On one hand I could see an Evac-Galvatron toy being the source of much fan consternation, as so many people were upset at his Universe incarnation being a tank instead of his G1 form, which was...uh...a tank with smaller treads.
But if they're trying to represent a "mirror opposite" of a tank, then a helicopter is not a bad place to start. And it would be nice to see Galvy get a mold that we know is genuinely good.
Of course, the headsculpt would have to be killer.
I've been a club member during years I was getting the Botcon set, letting it lapse each time, since I don't think it's even close to worth it to be a member otherwise, but I'd be and stay a member for Seekers. Even if it was just the weird colored generic ones. Heck, I'd be a member for the exact same repaint seeker year after year, like the Air Warrior scheme.
I'd been having second thoughts about renewing my club membership this year, especially as I wasn't interested enough in the 2009 BotCon exclsuves to order an Iacon package. However if the club gets a move on with releasing Punch and with Dion as the next freebie, I probably will renew. Hopefully better (Universe 2 please!) Botcon exclusives, next year.
Thinking about future membership freebies, although Orion Pax is a logical one, there are other choices to Arial, particularly as we're lacking a suitable female mold that hasn't been used before. There are two other potential 'characters' from War Dawn. An Omega Sentinal would be unlikely as it would have to be a deluxe or smaller mold. The other choice would be Megatron's army from War Dawn. He had an army of purple & grey trucks carrying piles of cubes, both of which transformed into Decpticons. I could see Universe 2 Tankor being repainted as one of those trucks, probably given a name rather than just being a nameless clone and with the claw weapon that forms the back of the truck painted yellow with a grid pattern over it, to simulate the cubes that the trucks were carrying. That would be a suitable obscure character for the Club to give exposure to.
Edit: Just checked, an the cubes being carried were purple not yellow. There's picture at TFWiki.
Just a thought...
Thats an idea an can get behind, nice base figure choice too!
Wow interesting move on galvatron, not sure its what I would have picked but then again I can't think of any one more suitable but then again it far from a match either.
Which G1 Galvatron colors? The grey or and purple G1 Galvatron?
Did a quickie computer paint mockup:
Separate names with a comma.
