So under what line did you put TFCC Astrotrain? I put him on my on Universe shelf since originally he was supposed to be Spacewarp without the remolded head. And then his bio would seem he could fit anywhere in the Unicron Trilogy.
I put him with Shattered Glass, despite the gigantic purple Decepticon symbol on his roof. If not there, I'd probably have him with the few Unicron Trilogy figures I have left, based on his Armada mold and the fact that the AEC Universe doesn't have its own Astrotrain. But a subsequent club fiction also repurposed him as SG. So it's sort of an "either-or" based on personal preference, at this point. Like Slicer, Alpha Trion, and most of the 2005 Botcon set. Hm, the club does seem to like to repurpose their characters a lot, eh?
In the eyes of collectors, it makes them more appealing to their collections since they fit their wants, and thus helps the club sell more
I mix and match my toys, but most of the guys he's around are, appropriately, Unicron Trilogy toys. Although I specifically keep him with HTFD Oil Pan, because I see Oil Pan as a G1 Skystalker homage and I use Astrotrain as his Shuttle, with the mini-cons as Skystalker's minions
I put him on the "Toys I didn't buy, and neither did anyone else, and cause FunPub to be SILLY gun-shy of producing enough GOOD figures that it's screwed up distribution and secondary market prices" shelf. That shelf is made of bad decisions, lack of being in touch with the fandom, and broken dreams. D/L
He's with my other Astrotrain toys, but if I display by line, I'd slot him in with Armada/Unicron Trilogy toys.
Interesting, I'm the opposite. I had him on the "bought four because the club kept selling him for half price and then turned around and sold him at cost to people overseas praying, just praying, that the club held on long enough until I got my Nexus Prime completed." What people conveniently forget is that the figure was a very good figure for it's time when it first came out. Sure, the head sculpt could have been better but what mainly hurt it was that because it was the first club exclusive it took the club too long to go through all the production channels, get a replacement for the space team mold that was destroyed, and a lot of the people clamoring for the figure had moved on. It's also why the club is shy to make large figures. The club seacons didn't help with the delays those guys had.
In the end they were a huge success but during the production stage they kept having to push the expected date back and were getting a lot of angry bitching and moaning during that whole period. It was after the release of the Seacons when the club said they were going to toys every two years instead of every year. By making the smaller toys they are able to price them $40-$70 which while pricey is not as pricey as $120 for a straight recolor. It looks like the club has gone back to producing two figures a year but are sticking with smaller size figures now.
