    Ok,

So I was REALLY excited to get this in the mail today. It shipped from Robot Kingdom on Black Friday.

Some of the photos shown prior that just show the figure standing straight don't do it justice.....

This figure is REALLY solid and has a very fun transformation. It's a simple transformation but well thought out and has a TON of posability.

To note, the head turns just like the Hercules figures. In the arms, due to the transformation the shoulders are able to swing up, there is also a forward/back motion as well as a bicep swivel. There is also elbow articulation. In the waist, there IS a 180 degree range of motion. In the legs, besides the forward/back motion, there is a thigh swivel to get more dynamic poses. When transforming to jet mode, be careful when transforming the tail section. the colapsing bar is small. You need to test the tolerance to get a good feel and MAKE SURE the rear of the plane is fully lined up.

In pictures we have seen of the arm mode, to get the rear top of the jet to be the top of the arm, you have to take the legs apart and flip the front of the groin to the back side. If you do it as it is currently assembled, you lose the elbow articulation. I actually now prefer the rear top of the jet as the underside of the forearm. In robot mode, I do prefer to have the intake flaps folded down to give the arms a more blocky appearance.

My final thoughts? I'm glad I didn't hesitate getting this. The figure is solid and well thought out and is great homage as a Classics style "Fireflight".

The Aerialbots were my favorite Autobot combining team as a kid, so I am just as excited to complete this set as I was watching the Hercules set unfold.

I do think the figure will further shine with a nice reprolabels set. I had to dress my figure up a little in the meantime.

    Enjoy,

    - Gregg

so in arm mode the jet nosecone and tail will be on the front of the biceps?!?!

[edit] never mind... I mistook the robot mode arm hole for the shoulder connection...

Looks like a good figure but I think I like the look of not-air raid more. *edit* he looks better with the shoulder pads folded down IMO.

Is there a chance you could take a pic of him next to Ultra Silverbolt?

I'm so glad those shoulder pads can fold down. Thanks for the pics soda! Gonna be hard to resist this one, but must wait for the right price. And cartoon style heads and guns. And red bloody shoulders for Phantom.

Are the horizontal tailfins painted white or white plastic? I hope to former, they'd look much nicer in red.

    Just buy it dude,
Don't even think about it, just let your mouse hand slide over the order button,
I hope a proper 3rd party toon head kit come out,
I've got nothing against shapeways and some amazing this happen on there, but i just hope a proper head kit comes out,
Silverbolts head tho looks spot on, good toon resemblance wonder why him and so far and no one else?

    Me too bud
But Im torn between taking the chance of my local hero Andy from kapow getting him in time before Christmas or ordering from robot kingdom seeing as they have him Now???

Also--all the early grey prototype pics of both Eagle and Phantom showed sidewinder missiles--are they included? Their omission is notable in jet mode.

So these don't come with weapons like G1, they are like the seekers with arm cannons? Kinda:thumbdown
