man, yes!...then you can justify getting the repros for the entire set
For a combiner (that's in great shape of course) that's a great price! Just make sure it has all of the pieces (especially those that aid in combining the figure- if applicable), doesn't have any overt issues combining, standing, etc., and otherwise appears to be a well treated item.
Thanks for the replies guys. A store here in HK is selling the set brand new for 250. Any issues that I need to look out for?
Breaux Man, by repros do you mean Reprolabels?
That's a heck of a deal! I'd jump on it!
Not so obvious because he could've easily meant "reproduction parts," like what Dr. Killinger, Megatron31, and Nonnef sells for some other figures.
Here it is. That's 1800 HKD, so actually it's closer to 230 USD.
must be nice to have an actual store that sells 3rd party...
It is. We are really spoiled here when it comes to toys. Problem is most of us don't have enough space to display everything we buy.
Thanks for all the input. I'll see if the store still has stock tomorrow.
everybody likes shitting in Prometheus' mouth
i dont regret buying him at all. i love the tfc quality. the build is nice. my ankle fix is still holding up great.
so far there hasnt been another set that got me wanting to replace him. he has been filling my defensor needs so well i skipped CW defensor
OMG that's outstanding...I'd be all over that. I've been waiting in hopes of a Black Friday sale, but I don't think they will ever be that cheap!
That is one hell of a price and you will not be dissapointed. its a really great set and one of TFC's best combiners that truely slipped under the radar. My only gripe is the combiner ankle joint design. It has a bit of slack between teeth on the ratchet which allows him to lean forward or backward if you do a straight up pose. Posing him in a dynamic stance doesnt seem to share this issue for some reason.
hope you get him!
This was a custom Shield by Dr. Killinger from a while ago. Custom head idea was from Atto!
And, here's the custom (non fat) face/head! Excuse the "dandruff" haha, it's been sitting for a while and dust started collecting.
I have no problem handing prometheous to my 8 year old to play with me not in the room. I've heard him "crash" it into a pile with explosion noises and stuff. prom took it and loved it with that shit eating grin of his.
I think that's the greatest compliment I can pay the toy. I did some slip stuff to my ankles to make them a little better. it's a shame though he didn't sell enough to warrant a real full run upgrade kit for the Eyes and feet. I'd love a more boot setup. Maybe give him a little lift
I love the picture of prometheous peaking out around the shield window.
I'm shocked a replacement face has not been made yet. The entire face just pegs on/off.
I thought by now there would be a new face for him by sxs, dr wu or at least shapeways.
Here's an interesting question.
Q. Which is the better Defensor, Prometheus, MT Guardia or UW03 Guardian?
Criteria include individual robot proportions, vehicle mode aesthetics, complexity of transformation, and stability in individual robot forms, proportions, solidity, size, and stability in combined mode, accuracy to G1-based media, and overall availability.
In my opinion MT's is the most G1-faithful excluding the red hands, while TFC's is the largest but blocky in individual robot modes and Takara's is the most easily available and simple to transform and/or fiddle around with but screwed up with Blades' position in combined mode (nose-down instead of nose-up). Opinions?
I don't know, I think his face is the best of all the Defensor's. Painting the eyes Blue or fixing the light piping would make him look better still.
MT's most g1 faithful? What way? TFC's IS the G1 toy modernised. Put it next to the G1 toy and you'll see what TFC were mostly inspired by.
Does this KO box set contain a KO of Hydrant with Fanproject M3 KO limbs? Even looks like they repainted Car Crash into Streetwise!
Sure looks like it, except instead of T-Bone, they have something like Munitioner from the Bruticus set.
I think that is actually a T-Bone reshell as a truck... Also, the limbs are Voyager size!
