Everyone keeps comparing this to the igear version, so lets just post them next to each other


Neither is 100% like the animation, and lets face it Ironhide was drawn very inconsistently. Both have positives and negatives and both are decent representations. It's really up to personal choice. I think this one is a little more IDW than G1, but over all it's a pretty good Ironhide, one of my main reasons for not wanting it it, I have the igear version, and I really don't want to buy another unless it's perfect or a real masterpiece and so far this one hasn't won me over, to me it looks a little too boxy, but really until there are reviews it's too early. On the other hand there is less kibble than the igear version.

 

Damn... who's been giving Ironhide the steroids again?

So he's definitely a good deal bigger... putting iGear Weapon Specialist into the MP shot above... shows just how much bigger:

 

I'd be curious to see the full transformation to see where all the bits go.

TFC does have a tendency to over-size arms. A reduction in forearm and shoulder size, and lowering the shoulders would go a long way here.

 

Goes well with monkey-arms prime.  

 

Yeah, that Ironhide is just too physically fit for my collection. I always saw him as that old soldier that has seen lots of action and injuries. More average to slightly overweight in build. The only part of him 110% operational being his mouth.

I'm liking this.
What kills it for me is his chest / belly. Absolute total fail.

But I really dig the rest of it.

 

Yeah the shoulders, forearms and belly area is a non-starter for me.

There are some very good elements to him, but they did a poor job of proportioning his entire upper body.

Im gonna have to pass on this.

 

I like his chest/belly, if only for the fact he actually has one for once. G1 toy Ironhide had nothing for a body and a hole in the crotch... Igear had a chest window, then faded to black everywhere. What I like about this is that the torso and chest segment down to the waist... Sorta reminds me of the Hound AOE cgi model... He had a segmented chest and torso, so he had the "fat/old timer" belly going... If this Ironhide was realized in the movie universe, I can see him, too, having a jiggle...

 

I could go with that is he didn't have roid-rage arms sitting abnormally high on his body.

They are just too big. They look like they belong on another toy they look so off.

 

I don't see any issue with his arms at all. The shoulders are exactly where they should be and big powerful arms is incredibly fitting for a guy like Ironhide.

 

For many characters I think I would agree with you. For Ironhide it looks right to me.

 

Dark grey shoulders and we're on to something!

 

There are things I like, and there are things I dislike.

Should we never get a MP Ironhide, I can see this as a very acceptable stand in.
