Hey Optiobotimus, I'm sure people have already told you millions of time (and I'm sorry if I'm just another one saying it) but regarding the missiles under the wing. In your review you plug the missiles into the inner holes and are disturbed by him not being able to sit flush because of them. Well if you rotate the missiles 180 he sits flush and can roll. The wings are slightly angled down and that combined with the girth of the missiles causes that scraping issue when facing the wrong direction.

 

They still won't roll. Rotating the missiles doesn't change anything, from the bottom of the missile (or as some people tell me, the fuel tanks) to the tip of the peg that goes into the wing, the length doesn't change

 

If it's any consolation, real Phantoms tend to carry their drop tanks in the outer position.

 

Okay, I double checked and you're right. I hear wheels rolling in this configuration and it isn't lopsided so I didn't notice. The wing wheels get awfully close but yeah, they still aren't touching. My bad. I'll still display mine like this in jet mode though because it's stable and looks close enough.

 

Can't wait to get this! Always had a sweet spot for him since Fireflight was my first combiner piece as a kid got him from Zayres of all places!

 

I just go mine. He does feel light but it's better than any of the TF rime RID figures. So what and where do I get the hobby grease for the hips?

Some say the squeaking is wrecking the gears and others say it isn't.

Anyways---an F-4's intakes don't sit flush against the sides. And the infamous "flaps" attached to them intentionally leave a gap as well.



While TFC does have some weird errors with the alt-mode IMHO, the intakes are pretty good. (but it "doesn't look right" to most people---but that's all just part of the many weird things about the F-4)

 

I think people are just assuming so because of the squeaking. He explains why there is squeaking. Torque was also talking about it in Sodawilly's review.

 

That's my point though, there hasn't been any damage reported. One wouldn't guess that though from the amount of comments there are about "bad gears".

As for the squeaking, yeah, we've known what caused it since last week. Maybe now that Peaugh has mentioned it people will worry about it less.

And for the record mine doesn't really sqeak much anymore. No molybdenum grease, pomade or astroglide required - just transforming and posing.

Yeah, I know I screwed up with the pods, but if they're going to turn around and be used as weapons for bot mode I hate just thinking they're fuel pods.

I did not know the intakes sat out like that. It was a minor issue anyway, but neat to see that's intended.

 

If you really want, their coloring and shape aren't too far off from napalm containers.

Same here. There's some weird glee in that giant red arm hanging off a bright green/purple bot.
