The more I look at the Star Cat line, the more it looks like Power Rangers to me. Btw, I would love to see a 3rd party Megazord and Dragonzord. Make them compatable with the Shogunzord and White Tigerzord. That wouldbe badass!

Could it be that they're just showing off the combiner limbs? I mean we already see that the TFC Constructicons use Energon-styled ports... I'm assuming these will too. If so, they may just be mixing/matching limbs to form a complete Gestalt atm.

This is a very curious find indeed... sadly I will have to pass on these figures if they're ever available in the next year... I've been spending waaaaaayyy too much on TFs recently. TFC Hercules and TF: Prime figures are already pushing it.

Oh and also... apparently that "Snowcat" torso was already posted on another render sometime back in TFW: [IMG]

As mentioned earlier, it's a show called "Star Cat Rescue Team" that happens to have bots that vaguely resemble Defensor... and I mean vaguely. IIRC, the Dinobot combiner is also based on another show.

So... (at least part of) my prior assumption's true. They combined both sets of limbs to "complete" a figure. Now if they use the same ports as TFC Devy... you'll have some interesting configurations by those few who'll buy all three combiner sets.

There's certainly some cross-compatibility there. Why not reuse the engineering if you can?

This guy uses the same general style of hands as Infinity Warfare as well, which connect the same way as Hercules' hands.

I would be all for an updaed Defensor though. The Protectobots need some love too.

I know people have a habit of displaying combiners as combined robots, but you can just not combine them and they still look like pretty neat toys, still Classic updates of the Dinobots. From the looks of them they did not suffer much in design from being made into combiners. The combined is just Grimlock in robot mode with 4 dinosaurs strapped to his limbs.

ok. color me confused, we only see a swoop and grimlock right? what's making people think they combine? I think that vehicle thing is the Starcats thing mentioned in the actual news post. but i could be wrong.

This isn't the first time we've seen these things.

    They're all Star Cats related.

The original concept art for the Dinos didn't even look like the Dinobots at all, beyond the choices in Dinosaur species.

Nice clip wish I could save the video - but it does not work on file extractor for some reason.

Yeah - the original concepts saw them combined as well, but they looked more like Dinozaurs than Dinobots. Since then the designs have been changed - no denying they're Dinobots now.

Looks to me like the Dinobots are being done as Dinobots, and just happen to share combiner pegs with this other thing?

Wow... that's a pretty good looking animation. They probably could try and see if they could air it stateside. The very cartoony humanoids + transformer-esque rescue bots could do well methinks.

semi confirmed word on seibertron.com is that the star cats rescue combiner set will be molded repainted and rereleased to create a 3rd party style c.h.u.g.r.t.s style protectobot combiner defensor figure set
