Well I sculpt them in Super Sculpey, mould in silicon and cast in resin.

The wheelie hasn't been moulded though, Hes just painted Sculpey.

If you haven't seen my other maquettes -

I see you do something similar with your sculpts the TFA crew did with the Animation Models and Modified them slightly for certain characters that happened to share their body style.

Yeah thats the basic idea. and it speeds up the modeling process no end. Also its like hasbro doing repaints.

At some point I'm going to get round to some of the larger characters who do this too

Not specifically. As he is a stand alone sculpt I didn't plan it so the head could be used on any of the toys.

If people ask for it I could cast the whole figure he's only about 3 and 1/2 inches tall

It would be great if you'd offer casts of your TFA maquettes. They are great!

Oh. I thought marquettes were like the rough drafts of art. I was wondering how you could possibly make these cooler. :thumb

I was aiming for the style of maquettes animators use when they're animating to remind them of how the characters look in 3D. Maquettes tend to be a standard pose based on control art rather than the dynamic poses you find with a statue or figurine

Great job with those new maquettes! First I thought SG Bumblebee are only a different paint, then I saw the spiked necklace and the different smile. There's other mold changes?

What are your new plans? Who'll be made next?

I have only your Bumblebee, Wasp and Tap-out. Glyph, SG Bumblebee and "X" (maybe Wheelie) would be good additions :D

The only other change with SG Bee is a slightly different eye surround and the 'crow' lines coming down from the eyes. those and the mouth aren't just paint details they're sculpted in. apart from that and the collar (which is just the existing collar with the 'lights' added on.
The Car mode stripe and the sumdac logo are both mirrored, because he's from a mirror universe (mostly on purpose, but partly because one of the images I found online had been mirrored and I thought 'hey theres an idea)

As for next...it'll depend on who i feel like sculpting. To be honest I kinda want to sit down and sculpt all of the heads before painting up the rest.

Seems to me like a good idea to see all the heads first (and would be nice to have a Hubcap to be friends with the soon available TFA Jackpot :D )
