Here's my custom TFA Season 3 Sari Sumdac: I started off with a 3.75" Star Wars: The Clone Wars Padme Amidala figure, then sculpted on the extra details with modeling putty. I then painted her using Formula P3 acrylics. It took a little mixing to get the right shades, but I'm quite pleased with the results. The colours don't really come across in the photos thanks to the lousy lighting, so you'll just have to take me at my word, I guess! For reference, here she is with Leader-class Bulkhead and Deluxe-class Bumblebee. Considering how inconsistent the relative sizes of characters are on TFA, I feel pretty good about her scale. She's probably a touch too big, but what are you going to do? The key and Allspark are from the Unicron.com Accessory Set #6. I know, technically by the time Sari looks like this the Allspark is long since shattered and the key is drained of power, so just chalk it up to creative license. In any case, you can see the full gallery here.
Ha, yeah, I used Padme as the base largely because she was already based upon an animated character model, but Sari still ended up less stylized than her cartoon counterpart. Surprise twist for the third live-action film, perhaps?
Very nice figure, only thing I would change is making the pupils bigger, like anime style. Other than that, nice custom.
im not into animated at all..but this one is attracting me to crits.. damn...ure done really nice result the donor figure...this is really fresh idea..sari, key and the allspark is really beautiful...one of its kind...respect..
I think this is one reason I really like this piece. It's not a cel figure, rather it's an artist's interpretation of the character. Speaking of movie figures, I'd equate it to movie 2007 Leader Prime (one of my favorite all-time toys): it may not be "screen accurate", but it's surely awesome It reminds me of some of the slammin' artwork from markerguru (aka Alex Milne):
That was easily the trickiest bit. It's tiny, and it was tough to get the sculpted putty from the table to the head without stretching or squashing it. About five minutes after I though I was finished with her, she toppled over and one of the hair-things (pigtails?) snapped off. There was much gnashing of teeth! Well, that's what glue is for, right? Ha! Y'know, I hadn't noticed that before, but I can see what you mean! It's a pretty flattering comparison! markerguru has some mad composition skills, to say nothing of his line work, and he's a fellow resident of the T-dot! I thought about it, but I actually made Sari pretty specifically to use in my Firetruck series, and I've got so many other projects underway, I doubt I'll get to her battle mode. That said, I do have a Robot Heroes-sized version of her in the works.
It's a personal thing, but I've never saw Sari as 'sexy'...noooooo mine eyes.....! But I really like what you did with the figure, the sculpting is excellent and original, yet looks great standing with the other TFA figures. Somehow, I get a Nova (starcraft ghost) vibe from her. Maybe it's the complexion and hair colour. Yeah! Bring on the Robo-Sari!
If you think that's something, do a Google Image Search for Sari Sumdac with "No Filtering" on. Then you'll really be covering your eyes!
