As of 5/15/20, this is still a WiP.

I started with modifying the following from an old custom repaint I did a while back:

    1. Ball jointed wrists
    2. Ball jointed feet
    3. Smokestacks split
    4. Red chords for the thighs
    5. Compressed truck doors
    6. Compressed backpack with new transformation
    7. Larger Temenos Sword of Judgment
    8. Tri-barreled gun added to his shield

Here are various photos of the modifications:

    IMG_20200508_114220__01.jpg IMG_20200508_110652__01.jpg IMG_20200512_091653__01.jpg IMG_20200512_091208__01.jpg IMG_20200508_145440.jpg IMG_20200511_153700.jpg IMG_20200515_153123__01.jpg

    ==================================

Then I proceeded on to repainting the whole body (minus the actual truck parts). Started with a flat black base for primer.

    IMG_20200515_153640_01.jpg

Then I added a dry brushed layer of Testors flat steel.

    IMG_20200513_142546.jpg

The next layer of paints were 2 brighter colors of metallic silver and (Molotow) chrome.

    IMG_20200513_165028.jpg

I moved on to add copper, gold, yellow, gloss red and blue, dark reds and blues, chrome and matte clear coat in between layers.

    IMG_20200514_163943__01.jpg

Here are the kibble halves for his shins:

    IMG_20200515_154937__01.jpg

After watching parts of the AoE movie for references, I missed a few spots on his feet and reversed the base color on his forearms. I also added an Autobot sticker on his chest.

    IMG_20200515_131617__01.jpg

I'm waiting to see how good the flames turn out from the sticker set to determine if I will use them or paint them myself. Here he is with his weapons and next to TLK Megatron:

    IMG_20200515_150352__01.jpg

I will be waiting for the Reprolabels sticker set over the next couple of weeks, and I will eventually finish off the truck mode later on.

Thank you for checking this out this project, and for staying tuned in!

Really great work @savio-prime as usual! The paint job is great but the mods you've done are really ace. Would you mind explaining a bit more how you got the backpack to rotate around? What is that metal swivel thing you used?

I'm also curious as to why you used black as the base coat when the result was brighter. I have the reprolabels set (two actually) for this figure and the stickers started to peel after a couple months. I'm worried that with all the layers of paint you've added that they won't adhere properly to yours but I'm hoping for the best!

Sorry for the double post but I'm excited to say that I tried out this mod and it's not only elegant, but beautiful in its simplicity. Honestly REALLY well done @savio-prime ! I tried it out on my TLK Voyager UNDERSIZED KO Optimus and it worked soooo well! It's a bit delicate as the plastic is of course thinner, but everything compresses so well. The only thing I wasn't able to do is make the backpack swivel (as I asked you in the above post, I'm still not sure how to make that work, especially on an undersized KO that's tiny). So for now you have to take off the truck top and reattach it upside-down, but I'll figure it out eventually! I also haven't done the smoke stack part yet but I will.

Thank you everyone for the compliments!

@Shmoptimus Prime so awesome that the door mod worked for you! Regarding the backpack:

    IMG_20200511_154849__01.jpg

To get the backpack to swivel, I did these steps:

    1. Find a screw that is skinny enough to fit inside the part.

    2. Hand drill a hole for the screw (at the red arrow in the picture)

    3. Feed the screw into the hole making sure the threads go all the way through. Remove the screw.

    4. Separate the end from the part with a razor blade (see the green arrow). Remove enough plastic to create a sufficient gap for a washer.

    5. Widen the hole of the part that is separated to the diameter of the screw threads. This allows for the free rotation without interfering with the screw tension.

    6. Finally, drill a smaller hole for the head of the screw to sink into. Here's a diagram.

@Shmoptimus Prime regarding the stickers set, do you think the adhesive of the stickers with have a negative effect on the Testors enamel paints? I'll probably spray the figure with another layer of clear coat, either gloss or matte.

I have the sticker set for MP Hotrod, and some of those began peeling too. I figured it might have been due to not wiping the surfaces clean.

I was able to do the smoke stack part on mine! Although I didn't use a screw I just doubled up the plastic on the back of the top of the hood and then glued them on. I hope it's secure enough!

    IMG_2634.JPG
Thanks so much for the detailed response! This will be handy should I ever want to make something swivel. However, I think since mine is the undersized version, I might be stuck at step 1 :(
I don't think they'll affect the paint at all, although a clear coat is never a bad idea. It's more the adhesive being weak and the areas being covered mostly being curved surfaces. The parts that started to peel for me were the moobs, the ankle areas and the shoulder pads, although I didn't use nearly all the stickers as I painted mine a lot. I was mostly in it for the flames.

I did the mod myself and was able to pull it off. I used a 2mmx10mm length screw. All you need it is a set of microscrews to match your smaller length one.

Here's a link from Amazon where I got my small screw set.

@Shmoptimus Prime here's a pic of how i did mine. I used a saw to mark a place where to cut it and instead of sawing through the whole thing I used a plasticard cutter to easily snap the part off. Then drilled a 1mm hole straight through down the center. And kept using bigger drill bits to make it wide enough for a 2mmx10mm screw and also carved space some plastic in the backpack piece to give space for the screwhead to move around. I didn't need to use the round metal piece.

Again, savioprime this was a genius mod!
