Since there are probably more different Titan toys, than fans here collecting them, I thought I would share a portion of one of the Australian TFs Toy Reference guides (in my signature)... dealing with the AOE Titans. (UPDATED - October 19th) So far seen/verified are four types of Titans... 12 inch - Optimus, Drift, Bumblebee, Lockdown, & Silver Knight Optimus (redeco - US Target/AUS Target Excl) 12 inch w/ weapon - Optimus (different mold to the other 12 inch), Grimlock (both exclusive to BigW in Australia - regular release in America?) 12 inch Electronic - Optimus (new mold), Bumblebee (same as other 12 inch), Grimlock (same as the one with weapon) (Kmart exclusive in America and Australia) 16 inch - Optimus, Grimlock (both are store exclusive in Australia to Kmart) That's 10 different Titan toys for TF4.... talk about over-kill. As the keen eyed will see, the 12inch Electronic Optimus looks the same as the 16inch Optimus, but has some minor sculpting differences... and, the 12inch weapon Grimlock also looks like the 16inch Grimlock, but there is some minor sculpting differences. (Titan sizes are from Hasbro US Press Releases or from Hasbro Australia) 12 inch (Bumblebee, Optimus, Drift, Lockdown) (plus Silver Knight Optimus - US Target/AUS Target Excl) . . . . 12 inch w/ weapon (Optimus - different mold to the other 12 inch, Grimlock) (Store exclusive in Australia to BigW, so could be store exclusive in America too) . 12 inch Electronic (Optimus - new mold, Bumblebee - same mold, Grimlock - same mold) (Kmart exclusive in America and Australia) . . 16 inch (Optimus, Grimlock) (Store exclusive in Australia to Kmart) . Collect them all! .
The Evasion-style Optimus looks slightly appealing. With some extra paint apps added of course. Pity they've all got stumpy feet. I suppose they've been designed with a narrower box in mind. I think the artwork on the boxes does the figures inside no favours at all. There's just far too much disconnect between the two. The character art looks barely anything like the figure inside. The 12 inch electronic Optimus doesn't even have the same body design in the art as the figure in the box. It's not like there isn't more fitting artwork either since the 16 inch Optimus under it has a somewhat more accurate picture. I reckon they'd have been more suited to the cartoony character artwork that's on the front bubble of the Power Battler figures. I wonder what was intended to go on that sticky-out bit of the box front for the Silver Optimus. There's a die-cut extra shape there but it's blank.
Looks like it's shaped for the "only at Target" sticker, as it is a Target exclusive in America, so the factory workers might end up sticking it there... or on the window like on most other exclusives.
These are the non-transforming, statue-like, figs, yes? I will never understand the reason behind Transformers that don't actually 'transform'
Yeah, that was my thinking as well. Just seemed odd to have what appears to be a dedicated die-cut place for the sticker. Wonder if there's any precedent for that?
Recommended by Nevermore, I've updated the first post with images to all 14 known Movie Titans... in case there was someone out there interested. (thanks to Nevermore for directing me to official images of some of the Electronic ones)
