Speculation: Could that explain the new NEST logo and suggest that NEST is no longer a military entity?

 

Isn't the name of Gibbson Robert Epps? The article refers him as Ray Epps...

 

Could it be like GI Joe, where most of the Joes are "officially" out of the service, whether "K.I.A., discharged, or retired", and work outside the normal US Military

 

Possible error by the news reporter for the story. Either that or we have another plot hole to deal with, albeit a small one. Hope his retirement dosen't reduce his role in the movie, I like the military guys.

 

I don't think it'll reduce his role, given that he's been sighted at filming in LA, Chicago, and Gary. He seems to be in plenty of the scenes.

 

more of a he retired end of movie 2. then shit happens in movie 3 and military says hey we need you to come back. he says no, your problem, you fix it, then the decepticons do something to convince him to fight against them. say killing a loved one or a friend (mikaela?) of his.


kinda like wolverine origins. logan is retired, then goes back to fighting mutants and what not.

 

The name change can be easy to fix.

Retired?! Now this is already sounding like a stupid movie. Well I guess I'll have to wait and see what the reviews are like before I go spend good money on it cause right now it sounds pretty sucky to me.

 

it's all speculation. let's watch the movie then rate it.

 

o ya from the little info we know the movie sounds really sucky... i mean come on ur making a judgment called based on a character being called retired...thats pretty weak right there!!

 

Maybe it's his dad? Heck me and my dad share middle names.

 

....and still no sign of Simmons and Leo which is always a good thing.

 

Nah. The joy of Michael Bay is consistancy. TF3 will have two "AWESOME!!!!" moments surrounded by 2 or 3 hours of total suckage. It's formulaic, therefore we can rate it from the moment his name is attached to the picture.

Simmons is definitely back. Especially since they've hired an actor to play the character of Simmon's new partner, meaning Simmons got a government job again (seems helping to destroy Devastorilla gets you back in good graces with the government). I'm 80% sure the Leo character is back, since Bay said during the TF2 promotion time that he had big plans for the Leo character.

 

I think it means that NEST is no longer attached to the US military.

Outside of the usual US allies most nations wouldn't want to join a NEST organization that was dominated by the US military. If the tie to the US military was cut to make NEST an international organization then that would make him retired military.

 

And yet everyone who knows they'll hate it will still be there opening night, and act surprised that they don't like it.

 

Meanwhile the rest of the world actually enjoys themselves and it'll be a big hit, just like the last two times.

 

Why do I have this sinking feeling that NEST turns into a Skywatch-type deal?  

 

well, could be that nest was deactivated permanently. cause we all know what an ass hole galloway can be. so, maybe lennox and epps joined some other top secret military organization that isn't based in the US? therefore they are no longer part of the US military?

 

They joined the HFTD fanclub. N.e.s.t. was holding them back.

 

Retired...then why the hell didnt Stallone call him up to get a spot in The Expendables?
