Just read the second issue, and again its good. It reads like an actual Transformers comic and not just standing around talking. And when they do stand around and talk here, what they say is actually interesting. Secrets and Lies is still the best comic of the four recent series, but this is easily the second.
The art. THE ART!!!!!! So good. It's amazing how much Alex Milne grew as an artist since the days of Dreamwave. When Alex Milne draws a Transformer comic book, it's like...*chef's kiss*
Awesome comic so far. Love the Terminator designations for Starscream, Soundwave, and Megs (Diaclone 22, Microman 10, and Walther P38 (not sure about UNC?)).
Just read the first issue, don't really get what's going on... Decepticons took Skynet's robots as alt modes and are waging a war on them? But the streets were littered with corpses of both Bots and Cons. And I guess they did not get the rights to use Arnie's likeness in the comic, but they still made the T800 dress like him? And y'd think Skynet would put some integrated energy weapons into him, as a handgun will not be much use there. Also, guy is acting way too human-like despite being a terminator. Checked the second issue too. So how come we seen Autobot bodies lying around everywhere, including Cosmos (who was not on the Ark), in the future? This indicates there was a civil war, yet the terminator does not know the difference between Bots and Cons? How could Skynet miss something this big? Also, the whole thing is not written that well. Really little happens, Megatron just ups and leaves despite only facing Prime and Bumblebee and could easily win, and Sarah Connor acts as if she was totally fine and not horrified about being kidnapped by a guy who turns out to be a metal skeleton and then meeting giant transforming robots too. And dammit, Ravage is a cat. I got flashbacks to stupid AHM when she kept calling him a dog. Apart from the nostalgia factor of two 80ies franchises crossing over, there isn't really much to this, frankly. But then again, that's been true about all of IDW's crossovers so far, including GI Joe, Ghostbusters or Mars Attacks. They just throw things at each other, hoping it will stick, without much of a plan. Dreamwave's TF/Joe crossover was weird, but you bet it was memorable with the WW2 alt modes and Cobra having been in existence back then.
Well, the art is great, as always, and the story has now been escalated to the point where I’m wondering the following: Spoiler How can things be even more worse for the Transformers? The fact that the Terminator who planted a bomb and killed several Autobots: Or a Terminator might striking a deal with Starscream: Still a very enjoyable crossover.
Since the Cyberdine HQ filming location was an office building in Fremont, CA, I'd say Sunnyvale is a reference since it's pretty close to Fremont. Don't recall that many nuclear factories in Silicon Valley, though lol
Well, I guess if you want to wrap this story up in just 4 issues, seemingly killing everyone else who isn't in the fight off is a way to go. Although I liked that the Terminator on his new "allies", unlike a lot of crossovers.
I wonder if those bots will come back if the Autobot defeat the Cons and the Terminator ceases to exist?
Spoiler How the hell did Arcee not see the Terminator throwing bombs for the ark out her own window? Kinda sucks it's ending so soon, I would've loved to see it go on more. I guess it's going to be a one-off type ending where a continuation won't be possible in the bounds of the story because the tale of the terminator will be done. Then we'll just be left with our plain old Cybertronians. That killer Milne artwork will definitely keep me coming back to this crossover every now and then though
Doing some quick research it seems that Terminator is relying on pre-destined time travel logic. Events can change but the outcome will always be Skynet nuking humanity and the creation of the Terminator. The Autobots HAVE to die and lose to make that event happen but how it happens is flexible. Defeating the Decepticons might alter the timeline but not in a way it undoes what has already happened. The ending has been written and cannot be altered.
Yeah, but that is the Terminator universe and this is partly TF, so the frutore can be change if the Autobots win.
The latest issue was just really good, I loved the callbacks to dialogue from the actual cartoon episodes
Calling it now: this will end with ALL Transformers dead, the Terminator becoming Cyberdyne, and the ending leading into the first movie. Would be only slightly less crazy than the ending of the Gobots comic. Also: I really enjoyed the comparison between Sarah and Arcee in this. It basically paints Arcee as the (T2) Sarah Connor of the Autobots.
There’s only 4 issues total in this miniseries, correct? Decided to start reading it tomorrow. I miss seeing Milne’s artwork and also enjoy Terminator, so I figured this series would be a good fit
Issue #4 came out, and I have to say: Spoiler Believe it or not, the ending of this issue makes it possible to for a sequel to be made, as it concludes on an unexpected note:
