Comic Book News: IDW Publishing to launch "Transformers vs. The Terminator" Mini-Series in 2020 I'm in. Spoiler: My prediction TF time traveling .....TF tech / remains lead to the creation of skynet and the terminators.......Skynet IS Megatron.....something like that.
Given that the first Terminator came out in '84 I could see them tying it in with Season 1 of G1. I'm excited though, as these are both two properties I love. Hopefully we can get some really cool designs from this.
Sure, but that's like saying even a toddler can kill an army ant. One is no big deal. Once you get a swarm going, the toddler is toast, as are most grown adults and even apex jungle predators that are too dumb to leave. In T1, the OG Terminator survived being hit by a truck, being trapped in an exploding semi truck and a directly planted explosive jammed in its hip assembly. The terminator's request at the gun store suggests that at the very least they have battlefield survivability in open combat involving plasma weapons. Assuming the setting is post Judgment Day, I could see Skynet employing swarm tactics against Transformers. Unlike TFs, individual terminators have no survival instinct and are ridiculously hard to kill. While Transformers are hardy, I think even the toughest Transformer would have a difficult time against a horde of relentless enemies attacking them like army ants. Even if the setting is Pre-Judgment Day... Optimus is going to be hamstrung because he won't have the Autobots open fire on a target surrounded by civilians.
Megatron, on the other hand, would gleefully order the Decepticons to kill everything that moves. Assuming Megatron isn't somehow a key part of this plot and is the basis of this version of Skynet or something.
Yeah, true. Although for whatever reason he's never really gone all out and made that call very often. As most of these crossovers seem steeped in G1-ness, there's probably some reason that Megatron doesn't actually do it. My assumption was always limited force size. 84' Megatron was powerful, but he still had limited number of troops. Going whole hog in cold war era USA would probably gotten him an overwhelming human armed response and a crazy witch hunt to boot.
I have one or more questions. 1. As far as I understand the comic will be a crossover like Transformers & Stark Trek? 2. Are the comics the crossovers are canons for Transformers? or for the other side like Star Trek or Terminator? I mean, the comic is written by a well-known publisher / comic maker, and they have to have the license for it, otherwise they can't or are not allowed to make money with it.
Not sure? since it is his own universe like almost everything at Transformers and the comic makers who have the license or hasbro have the right to publish it, it should be canon, it is one of the developers says something different, but that is not the case at the moment fall as far as i know.
Why is it so important that this has to be canon? Canon and Transformers seems to be a loose thing due to there being so many iterations.
Given one of the covers for this crossover, I suspect Decepticons being somehow involved with making Skynet.
So you've already got the answer don't you? Since it's officially published, it can be considered canon, rebuked (c.f., The Beast Within) or retconned (c.f., Volcanicus), at the very least.
Canon is Official? I wanted to ask because there are crossovers that are not canons, so I ask again, in the normal case it should be canons because it has the license. but as I said I was probably asking.
In Transformers, everything is canon, even if it’s only canon to its own universe. So the Transformers vs Star Trek crossover isn’t necessarily canon to the G1 cartoon (though it does borrow a lot of iconography) but it is a canon part of the Transformers multiverse.
I wonder if the Star Trek crossover universe could be considered a What If/splinter to the cartoon universe. It uses the same designs and even had a Sherman Dam flashback.
Hope this will be collected in the new line of hardcovers that IDW is on the verge of releasing. The world in your eyes hardcover collection will be released on january 21th. I´m hoping for a long and succesful run and that this will be included
