As a few of you may be aware I recently tasked myself with trying to create the ultimate collation of the Transformers movies - editing down Transformers, Revenge Of The Fallen and Dark Of The Moon to around hour long stories focusing more on the Transformers and military aspect and less on the civilian aspect. However, seeing as this is a 'fan edit' I am looking for some fan input on a few creative decisions to help the project go smoothly and in order to entertain fans of the series. As such I hope you will be able to have the time to read through the following and give me some feedback on what you'd like removed/cut/edited. The goal is to make the ultimate (As a far as I know 'first') fan edit of all the movies into one bite-sized three hour chunk of awesomeness. Overall series questions; Do you want Bumblebee to talk? - Thinking of using sound clips from other Transformers series in order to give him a personality, having him gain his voice for ROTF and DOTM For the sake of when the full version is released, would you like each part separately as hour long episodes or a 3 hour version? - Individual versions would make it easier to download, however 3 hour version would keep it all in one place TF; Should I keep the 'Bumblebee Legs' scene? - Current edit has this scene removed with Brawl's death occurring due to the group efforts of the Autobots and the military (Making the Decepticons seem tougher) ROTF; Should I keep the 'Matrix disolving' and 'Robot heaven' scenes? - Current edit has this aspect removed with the Matrix not crumbling to dust, cutting a lot of the aspects that many found annoying, such as the robot heaven scene. DOTM; Thinking of potentially killing off Simmons - thoughts? - As the final in the trilogy it would make sense to kill off a character who has been in the trilogy, Simmons being the easiest to kill Thinking of removing Dylan's death and have him disappear during the final battle in the chaos - thoughts? - Dylan's death never felt right with me as it was one human murdering another, however leaving this up to the fans Any other suggestions you have, feel free to note them. I have no set date on when it'll be done - however I'm hoping to have it done before October. ----------------------------------------------- Oh, and here are some things to look forward to; Transformers; - Currently 1 hour 1 minutes in length - Current edit is almost complete, just working on sound editing for specific scenes - Focuses on military aspect more - Removes most of the Sam and Mikaela love aspect, they are now just two civilians thrown into the war - Streamlines the 'Glasses' storyline ROTF; - Currently 53 minutes in length - Removed the 'Only a prime' nonsense - Removed the 'Master' scene - No Twins - No Devastator balls - Less Leo - No border scene - No Simmon's ass/crotch - Less Wheelie - Less Jetfire - Re-edited forest battle (Streamlined and less cutaways, easier to follow) - Re-edited final battle (Now 20 minutes) DOTM; - Currently 1 hour 8 minutes in length - Less Sam whining - Less Driller - No skyscraper scene - Shockwave goes out like a boss xD - No 'Optimus in wires' scene - Less Brains scenes - Less Wheelie scenes - Less Wreckers
The Bumblebee getting his voice back thread could be pretty cool if its done right. Simmons dying, I am fine with. Dylan dying I am fine with also. I have been thinking about combining RotF and DoTM for a while and I wracking my brain trying to think of a way to get around Optimus dying all together.
Should explain the whole All-Spark/Seed thing, I was also interested in the Transformers Creation Myths. Stuff like this also need to be published on fanfiction.net as well.
Cool! Here's my thoughts: I think BB shouldn't talk. I'm worried it would be distracting to hear his voice from a cartoon, etc. I like deleting BB legs scene and Brawl death. Remove 'Matrix disolving' and 'Robot heaven' scenes Yeah, delete Simmons Doesn't really matter to me what you do with Dillon.
Yeah, I'm intrigued as to how you're going to tell anything like coherent stories when you're cutting over half the material, and, in the case of ROTF, spending more than a third of the remaining running time on the final battle.
In the edit its one story told over 3 parts - kind of like 'The Hobbit (Dwarfed Edition)' where each movie is condensed to an hour - around 3 hours in total. With the second a lot of the plot is told via silly comedic scenes such as the inclusion of the dick bots, Robowarrior, tazers and Wheelie. I've managed to remove a lot of it by trimming these sort of scene - hence the vastly shortened runtime. The edited plot of ROTF seems fairly cohesive in the current state - however feel free to mention additional scenes that may be necessary. - Shanghai scene (The fallen warning) - N.E.S.T scene (Soundwave spots Shard) - Ravage scene (Ravage gets Shard) - Graveyard scene (Introduce Sam + Aspect of him going college) - Resurrection of Megatron (Shard used to resurrect Megatron) - Decepticons mobilise (Alice seduces Sam) - Mikaela breaks up with Sam (Alice is revealed to be a Decepticon) - Capture/Forest Battle (Sam is captured, Optimus is killed) - On the Run (Sam laments Optimus's death, discover Simmons) - Jetfire (Backstory of The Fallen + Travel to Egypt) - Egypt (Discover Matrix) - Final battle (Rush to Prime, Resurrection, Death of 'The Fallen')
Which, IMO, is just ridiculous. Bee should have taken one look at those symbols, beep-booped-bopped a few times, and they could have gone off to find Jetfire.

Easy way around that is just have them enter the 'lost city of Petra' and discover the painting is damaged slightly - which I've done in my current edit. Some nice fanfictions their - haven't had time to read them all but they seem like fun. Cant add more than the movies already have
