I missed the boat on TF Prime Voyager Breakdown and am unwilling to pay the over $200 he usually now goes for.

However, there is hope, it seems! Amazon has Voyager Swerve, a red repaint of Breakdown, for about $37, so I ordered him.

I'm thinking this will be a relatively straightforward repaint as I won't be touching the white and just changing all the red to blue, so as long as I can separate out all the red plastic, could I just use spray paint to do the job? If so, does anyone recommend a suitable type for plastic? And then, would you recommend clear coating it to avoid any issues down the line?

My only other repainting experience was taking a RTS Classics Bumblebee and making him Cliffjumper, once again to save money on the real thing. That came out OK, and while I didn't clear coat him, he doesn't seem to suffer for it.

As for the different head, I suppose it's something I can just deal with. Unless I can get a Shapeways print. But I'm not very concerned.

    Any tips/tricks/suggestions/comments?

    $200?!
I should put mine up for sale, I'd be happy to get $50 for it.

Seriously though, proceed with caution - disassembly isn't going to be very easy on him. Clearcoats are always recommended if you're using acrylic paints.
