Just come out the cinema, what a fucking legitimate joy that movie was... now without going into spoilers, so much of that movie directly contradicts so many of the major plots in most of the live action movies, and what a relief that is.

Goes to show what up a chump Di Bonaventura is, promoting the movie as leading to the events of the bay movie, clearly hadn't even read the script.

    Thoughts?

    Yep, it definitely is.

I don't he's been promoting it as part of Bayverse though. There was one misunderstanding about how he said it takes place 3 billion years before what we know of them usually. He's said himself that live-action and animation will be kept separate. Let's not get agendas get in the way.

No, it's still attached to the Bay movies.
"b-B-B-B-BUT THAT MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE-"
Doesn't matter. The Bay movies didn't make sense between themselves either.

Well it's a fair point, the start and end of most of the live action movies barely connect, let alone movie to movie.

I see now on another thread he finally conceded (read the script) that TFONE is a separate universe.

This is a recent U turn (I don't know how recently as I have been avoiding news in the run up) though, he had said it was a "story leading into the bay movies."

No, those can't be canon to those movies because a lot of them make a lick of sense, so they don't fit the Bayverse's rule of "everything must be deranged and airy".

It's stupid enough to work, since it's a movie whose entire plot borders on the flimsy belief that somehow everyone older than 50 years old never told anyone younger than 50 years old that everyone is born with cogs.

Yeah it's a good point. Maybe it's like Santa for Cybertronians.

    More likely though,
sentinel whipped up a story that
there's a breed of inferior Cybertronians that are born without cogs and everyone believed it. He probably told everyone they were being released from prisons and mental institutions too, and eating peoples pet predacons.

Well, for all we know, he could've threatened them into silence, or maybe the only Cybertronians alive at the time were the Primes, Sentinel, and the High Guard (or maybe the Quintessons killed the civilians)
I see what you did there...

Would probably be pretty easy for most citizens to buy that the disappearance of the Matrix and the halted flow of energon resulted in an inferior generation of defective Cybertronians being born. Then it would just be a simple matter of anyone who questions that narrative “disappearing” or dying in horrible “accidents” and You Know Who would rule without any apparent fault while the masses continue to be entertained by races and other distractions.

Wish we could’ve actually seen stuff like that happen on screen in TFO, or at the very least get mentioned, but it’s not hard to imagine it happening either.

If tfwiki make separate pages for ONE characters and not lump them into the bayham. Than yeah it is separate thing

It should have been marketed as a clean sheet and its own thing. The fact there’s still confusion now is a failure by the marketing team and makers/higher ups. Gonna hurt the films performance as if it’s related to the live action films people won’t want to go see it as they’ve already gave up on those films. The same issue bumblebee had and rotb’s indecisiveness about what it was meant to be. Baffling why they won’t let the connections to the old films die.

    Sentinel is a
    little too dead
for this to be a prequel to the live action films directed by Bay.

Sort of. It’s a reboot, but you can squint and fit it into broader G1 continuities. It’s actually kind of shocking how faithful it is to fanon that stitches the G1 cartoon and comic origins it is. Alpha Trion creates a continuity glitch with the OG cartoon, although you never actually see what happens to him so maybe he goes underground…again.

Certainly possible that his death could be retconned or reversed under the right conditions. Personally though, I would just shuffle it under the various minute details you’d have to squint away in order to plug it into another continuity.
