...by me. In my computer programming class at school, we made an WoW-esque character creation menu. I decided to make the rest of the game myself at home (we'd be doing the rest at school anyway, but i wanted to get a head start). We use Dev C++, so unfortunately none of you will be able to play it. This also means this game will be completely text based. No graphics! Instead of races, I have alt-modes, and instead of classes, I have functions. I also made a narration for it which goes as follows: "It is the year 2009. The Great War between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, once contained on Earth anc Cybertron, has exploded into a galaxy-spanning conflict. Cybertronians across the stars are forced to take up arms and fight for their lives. This is the story of one robot who had decided to take his own side. This is your story. You have accepted an invitation to join a group of mercenaries and fight for the highest bidder. You meet a member of this group at Maccadam's Energon Bar on Cybertron." My alt modes are: -Motorcycle Very fast, light, and manuverable, but not very well armored. -Sports Car Sleek and stylish. Very balanced. -Muscle Car A slighty stronger and more bulky, but slower, version of the sports car. -Truck A large, strong vehicle with much strength and durabilaty. Somewhat sluggish. -Semi Truck The most powerful civilian type vehicle form. Very strong, but very slow. -Tank A large military vehicle with many weapon hardpoints and thick armor. -Fighter Jet The fastest form. Heavy yet fragile. Needs room to manuver. -Helicopter Heavy air vehicle. The tank of the skies. The functions are: -Warrior Equally equipped for both melee and ranged combat. The most balanced function. -Berserker Equiped for heavy melee combat. Can support the heaviest of armor plating while weilding the largest of weapons.\n Supported most by heavy forms. -Intelligence Officer Equiped for precision melee combat. Specialized in locating the enemy's weak point fast, then strike it accurately. High critical hit rate. Stealthiest function. Supported most by fast and light forms. -Weapons Specialist Equiped for the use of a wide range of powerful ranged weapons. Has access to the most weapons. Also supports heavy armor plating. Supported most by heavy forms. -Sniper Equiped in precision ranged combat. Specializes in pinpointing the enemy's weak point from afar, and use it for a lethal shot. High critical hit rate. -Medical/Science Officer Equiped for repairing weapons, armor, and most importantly, themselves. Can also use a wide range of both melee and ranged weapons. The stats I will use will be those from the tech specs, except for rank. I will use that for your level. I will also use energon for health. What do you think so far? I will be working on enemies and items, so I will need some suggestions for creatures (non-sentient enimies), locations, weapons, and materials armor and weapons will be made of. Such suggestions will be apprciated. EDIT: By the way, this will take place in the Movie-verse.
That sounds like a great basis for a TF MMO/P&P RPG game. As for non-sentient opponents, how about those Drone gaurdian things, some Sharkticons, and hell, an army of little Kremzeecks.
Great? Wow, I must really be on to something . Anyway, good ideas. I was thinking of Sharkticons as well, though I hadn't thought about Kremzeeck. I came up with a decent excuse for the text-based controls. There will be a "mission-interface" program that is installed in you named Syntax.
Will You make this game playable eventually? Its a great Idea for a game. Maybe Post some screenies or something to show how the game is like?
There are free upload sites. I would be willing to host it as well over at my site. BTW if there is need for voice actors there are some over at TFCog.com and I can do various G1/BW characters as well. Sounds like a very promising game. I think this would go over well in the fandom if you get this going. Good Luck!
Bear in mind, when all is said and done with your assignments - you could probably release your source code online (GNU) and other folks could help you improve it.
This is just a thought but your description of the game and its text based environment. especially the "energon for health" bit reminded me of the transformers 3d battle card game. Their pretty cheap so maybe you could pick up a pack or two as a reference (target seems to carry them) It has a pretty good battle system and abilities for each mode. while you would'nt want to spend a whole bunch of time on the different abilities it can at least get your statistics out of the way. I think there should be a catalog of the card statistics online.
Update! I have a preliminary fight system made. I'm still working out the bus, but i'll be getting help from my teacher in two days. I also have a training arena for exp'ing your character. The enemies I have are a Kremzeek, a Sharkticon, a swarm of shrike-bats (of Dramadon), a Centurion Drone, an experiment (made by Glitch, the owner of the yet-to-be-made item shop), and an Icktyack (the creature Kup says "came stomping and tromping down the mountain, flames spewing from its nostrils..." before his ship is attackedover Quintesson). I have named the arena owner Flail, but I think there are better names for an arena owner. Suggestions will be appreciated. It may take a while before this game is done. As in several months. But that just means the game will be that much more awsome.
I came up with a basis for a MMORPG for Transformers a while ago that had a lot of similar ideas as you mentioned here. Let me know if you want any more ideas about your tech specs or anything.
