Found this ad on the MRT (subway) yesterday whist coming home from our own TF expo here in Taipei (pics tomorrow). This ad tells of a Transformers exhibition going on in Macau from June 1st all the way till October 5th! (變形金剛=Transformers) -They have recreated a scene from the movie in a life-sized diorama, -Claim to have the world's first 2 meter high projector (whatever this is all about), -And have TF statues on display, including a 7 meter(!) Optimus and Bumblebee, as well as others (?) So go, gamble, win big, buy those statues! *Yesterday I also came across this info about a toy expo: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/991949-toy-building-block-expo-taipei.html **This info about Burger King: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/992125-burger-king-aoe-dog-tags.html ***This info about more TF4 product give-aways (just need to buy a house is all): http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...92126-buy-house-taiwan-get-free-tf-stuff.html ****And picked up this Family Mart catalog: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...92122-family-mart-tf-marvel-product-line.html Quite the Transformers day!!!
Thanks for this. Could be worth a visit, perhaps in conjunction with the upcoming summer comic cons. For what it's worth, there are loads more interesting Transformer-related (and non Transformer-related) things to find in Hong Kong than Macau.
426.??????????????? - ??????? - PChome ????? Here's a link with pics of the event. *not my pics. Can see what the projector is; a giant Optimus statue; a translucent Kidslogic Optimus; and a rad G1 Megatron costume.
Don't get too excited... I went last weekend and it isn't as amazing as advertised. The giant figures aren't very detailed (nowhere near as nice as the Optimus they had at the HK premiere) and look cheap and plasticy; and as crazy as this might seem, a lot of the toys on display between my 7 year old son and I ... we have about 50% of them(!!) However there are aspects of the Macau expo that are nice and there is a transluscent Kidslogic collectable available ONLY from the Expo you can purchase (with a valid ticket for entry to the expo plus a HK$200 minimum spend). I got Optimus on the last day he was available... he is no longer on sale as they have moved on to Starscream. I am contemplating going back when Grimlock becomes available later on in the Expo... There is a fabulous 3D hologram style video that runs around 20 minutes with a tribute to Optimus all the way from G1 through to Prime (with Animated and Movie Optimus in between). My son sat through that twice he loved it so much. There is a nice hologram over the top of a human sized statue of AoE Optimus that was pretty cool... hard to describe and even harder to take pictures of. A good tribute to Transformers Prime (probably because it is still hugely popular here with the kids, not that I'm complaining as I like it too). The huge Optimus is only ok (again he looks cheap and plasticky) and a Bumblebee the same size is diagonally opposite. I was disappointed they didn't get the size relationship between the two correct. It was kind of odd to see Bumblebee so big. There is also a Grimlock (AoE) head in the same "room" which wasn't too bad. The other figures like Ironhide and the twins were "meh". There are a couple of Matrix of Leadership artifacts from ROTF - not sure if they were real props or not. I have loads of pictures from the Expo to post, however as my photo library decided to explode last week and is currently rebuilding itself I can't upload pics until it is finished. Worth a visit if you're over there if you are a Transformers fan, but don't expect anything mindblowingly amazing.
For those interested, here is my post on the Macau Transformers Expo, complete with a whole pile of pictures. Unfortunately a lot of my pictures and video of the 3D Optimus head was too corrupted to be useable. *sob* ... might just have to go back for another trip (especially since I'd like to get the translucent Grimlock)...
