It depends on the sizes of the boxes, and if you really want to keep them, put 'em in a couple of folders. That's how I've done it. To me, they're part of the figure.

I say keep them by the truckload.

Never keep 'em by the monkeyload.

I flatten them and put them in a binder. But I did this back in the day when the boxes had Dreamwave art. I liked the art. Now... I don't care. I might cut out the artwork maybe but nothing has hand drawn artwork anymore. The last bit was on Alternators which is dead. It would have been nice if Classics had illustrations but it didn't.

Unless you intend to keep them in the box, I don't see the point in keeping the box. Even if you flatten the box, there's still the matter of the plastic bubble packaging. Can't exactly flatten that, and without it you can't really put the figure back in the box anyway.

    Might as well toss 'em.

About the only exception I have to the above, is the masterpiece boxes(and the hasbro ss doesn't count, since it's a crooked plastic bubble mess) or other really expensive figures(yamato valks come to mind).

I only keep the box if it looks good as part of the display (reissues, titanium that kinda stuff) or if it is from a more expensive figure that will benefit from having a box when it comes to transporting the figure (alternator, 20th prime).

I keep any boxes that come with my G1 purchases, of course!

i keep the boxes. Since i have moved a few times- between home and college and new home- the boxes helped with packing.
also, i don't take everything out of the box with my TFs; like my reissues Prowl, Hoist, Tracks, etc, i keep their accessories in the box to prevent loss.

and my dream was collecting the Book reissues and having just a bookcase with them, they look awesome to me.

with my spawn/gundam/batman and figures that came carded, i kept the cards and have them in a filing cabinet.

    1. Box in good condition = keep in box (To keep value or just damn cool)

    2. Medium ware but figure inside in great condition = keep inside for just protection (against dust and other things)

    3. Box beat to hell (like water damage, fading or crushed) = Take out of box and put in display case (but try to save tech. specs. or other information)

That can best explain what i would do.

I only keep boxes and/or packaging for Alts or MP's. And only for moving or re-selling.

I keep some boxes because they are beautiful. The problem is, those beautiful ones tend to be bigger. I am running out of room, too :(

if you don't keep the inserts its kinda pointless. The box itself probably won't help it retain value. Remember we live in a time of collecting, so they aren't usually going to reach G1 levels of value, much like modern comics vs golden age. Its the rarity that makes them valuable. So if space is an issue, toss them out, I do for the most part.

The only boxes I've kept after opening have been BW...mainly because I like the artwork and they were easy to open...but if space becomes an issue losing them wouldn't hurt much...if it isn't an old G1 box, reissue box or rare exclusive the value isn't affected much IMO without the boxes...

I keep a large box or 2 per line. Then, I clip the tech specs and box art from the rest, and file them in the appropriate large box. So, if I wanna find the bio of Cybertron Backstop, I find the Cybertron TRU Starscream vs Vector Prime box, and know it's filed there. Because the Alternator boxes are fairly stackable, my Alts are all displayed in their boxes, as are the Titaniums. My Masterpiece figures and Club exclusives are stil in their boxes, and I've kept my SWTFs on their opened cards or in open boxes, but the cards are all hung on one wall, s they don't take up shelf space, either. Once I get everything cleaned up (which might be never), I'll put some pics up.

Personally, I keep most of mine (especially the Japanese imported ones). I have trashed quite a few of the boxes/bubble packs if the figure was just a basic or deluxe that wasn't one of my "high priority" buys (if that makes sense). It all depends on preference and what you want to keep more. Old G1 boxes, I'd suggest keeping. Anything more recent, like Armada/Energon/Cybertron, to me those are more give or take (keep the ones you like, trash the rest). It's really hard to tell someone what they should or shouldn't keep. Honestly, you may want to take a cue from Hiro Prime and just flatten them (that way you can always use them again later).
