Here's the first draft of something I've been messing around with - the meshes themselves are low-poly Ink n' Paint jobs, rendered out with Mental Ray, and based on a mix of Voyager and toon (beginning more as the former, but evolving more into the latter as things went on).

(Yeah, I know his backside isn't right, but I'll get to that. :p )

As ever, C & C always welcome - and more to come!

Hell yeah! About time. ;)  I can't wait to see you finish this. On a side note Rob, I just ordered a quad core PC which I should have next week so I shouldn't have any problem with your blockables revision any more :D

That's a render? I thought that was a piece of drawing at a glance. Looking sharp.

That's really cool. I like how OP is coming along. Are you going to make the rest of Animated gang, or just him?

Cheers for the feedback, everyone! :D

Jeff: Very nice! :thumb  Let me know when you've had a chance to look at the model, and what changes need to be made for it to work! :)

DilaZirk: Thanks a lot - reckon the actual inking could be better, but this is a draft job (and my first attempt at this kind of thing)!

KA: Indeed, and with Animated giving me a massive dose of inspiration, I thought it was high time I gave it a crack, too.

Overhaulimus: MAX 7, my particular weapon of choice. :D

Star Cracker: Cheers, mate - yep, the plan is to do the lot, then attempt to live up to the show's title. ;)  BTW, Screamer's next...

    * * *

Progress: Upper legs are done, and I'm just working on the hands at the moment (bloody thumbs!); once those are sorted and I've managed to make some headway on the lower legs, I'll post an update.

Here's the latest, with the hands and legs done, along with some tweaks to the torso and arms. Wish there was a way to get the ink shader a little tidier in places, but I'm pretty happy with how it's progressing. :)

    Now comes the tough part...

Cuillere: Here's the wireframe - I know it could be better optimised in places, but it'll do for now. Oh, and the poly-count currently stands at 1504, if you're interested. :)

Venksta: Much appreciated, mate - bit of a quantum leap away from your super-detailled Classics meshes, wouldn't you say? :D

O_O wow~! This looks absolutely amazing! =D Are you planning on doing other characters as well? It looks like a rendering for a TF:A game!

SeishinKibou: Thanks very much! Yep, planning to do them all in the same low-poly style, with the aim of keeping the count around the 2k mark where possible. :)

Bumblebee: Cheers! Working on the head at the moment, which hopefully I'll be able to show in the next couple of days. :thumb

And apologies for not answering sooner, but thanks to the useless pillocks at BT, my net access at home is dead. Good job I've got a solid connection in the office...

    More to come! :D

Apologies for the lack of updates - my home connection is still out, and I've been out of the office for a few days to celebrate my birthday. But whilst I've been away, I've had time to finish the head and rework a few details, and here's the result... :)

Add to that my faithful old isometric camera setup, bung in a run cycle from one of the games I've been working on, and viola - Optimus Prime takes his axe for a jog. :p

    More to come! :D
