Hahaha I was waiting for the "true fan" comment.

Anyways back OT, great review. He's HUGE. Definitely my favorite so far.

No offense taken. I initially hated the line myself for the same reasons you do, so I understand where you're coming from. To each his (or her) own.

Oh boy, already with the "True fans" comments.

The fact of the matter is, Animated is Transformers, wether look like it or not.

In fact, you'd think a "true" (<not used seriously) fan would stick by TFs no matter what happened to them. The fact is, there's no such thing as a true TF fan, because that implies that there are fans who aren't true to TFs, or wannabe fans. Which simply not true. There are two kinds of people in the world when it comes to TFs: People who like TFs, and people who don't. There's no halfway, even if you only like G1 and nothing else (example. Doesn't have to be G1).

We're all TF fans and you shouldn't put people down for liking TFs, which is what animated is, it's Transformers, and they're fans of it.

Pardon my rant but the whole "True fan" thing bugs me a little. It wasn't really directed at anyone in particular here.

Back on topic: One question I need answered: Is there any rubber in him? With all those spikes and that hook I would think so.

He's really neat. You think more people would at least like Lockdown, as he looks a lot like a G1 cartoon character with the square limbs, slim, kibble-less design and the modest amount of details.

Nope, no rubber. The spikes and hook are all hard plastic.

I just got to thinking, and, with Lockdown's bio mentioning him looking around for upgrades and stuff, what if Hasbro were to put out an accesory kit for hiim with different weapons and stuff. Personally, I think that would be awesome. I'm also hoping for a toy version of the Allspark, and possibly a little model type thing of Megatron's head in the Scientist's lab. It would be an easy way to introduce toy versions of the main human cast too. I'm actually really curious as to what repaints we'll be getting in this line.

I am in -disbelief- at his size. O_O

Definitely gonna have trouble resisting him before his real release in the summer...always liked that design the most of the revealed Animated ones. I admit, the Henriksen factor played into it. :D

    Cartoony does not negate badassity.

Picture extremely related. (In more ways than one wich is totally better served for a different topic.)

Lockdown looks awesome. I'll look forward to whenever these turn up in my nick of the world. =) I also echo the sentiment that the repaints of this line will be interesting to see.

the size is so awesome, really i think hasbro might have out done themselves if all the figures in the line can be as misleading as lockdown here.

Actually, this is probably one of the most benign uses of "true fan" I've seen, as in:

"True fans understand the differing opinions of others."

    as opposed to:

"True fans only like ______ and hate ______."

    :)

Personally, I had the initial WTF shock at the first pictures of 'Animated' characters and toys, though over time I'd come to realise I liked the style pretty well, as it has a fair bit in common with my own drawing style. (getting tired of a half-decade of TF anime was a factor too) and I appreciated the work that went into making toys that follow that same style. It definitely looks different next to - pretty much any previous TF line, but it's OK to not be interested, since there's still the tail end of the movie line, Classiverse, andeventual movie-2 lines for those who don't care for the cartoony.

I suspect several people who rip on the line now will quietly change their tune once it's released, and they have watched a few episodes and seen some toys in person. It's just oft-repeated history.

Anyway, I'm gonna have to see Lockdown in person. Comes off a little odd to me, even by Animated toy standards. The character may sell the toy for me more than the toy itself.

That is a sweet, sweet GL picture Weremole, where did you find that one may I ask?

On topic, this figure is even better then I had previously thought. Upgrades would be great 9he does have two weapon mounts after all) but Hasbro havn't done anything like that (in my memory at least) so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

More likley is that he'll come back with a different alt mode later on and more weapons.

    Great review Optimus747.

A question for you: in person, does the waist seem 'normal' or 'too narrow'?

Lockdown has been a roller coaster for me: first I liked it a lot ... then I liked just the alt mode and disliked the bot mode ... now I'm back to liking it a lot.... :D

I think the fact that he's taller than Movie Voyager Starscream is helping ... I knew he was gonna be tall for a deluxe, but didn't expect him to be taller than Voyagers.
