Better grab any Velocitron you can. Seems they all are discontinued and vaulted. Guess I got really lucky with Cosmos and Strika, but I can only hope I end up finding Galaxy Shuttle before the price hikes up.

 

Oof. That's rough. I found Cosmos when they first dropped. Then never saw him again. And I hunt A LOT. So, stupid. This would have been one of those times solid character cases would have been most welcome.

 

Why do you say vaulted? Do the new mod sheets not show Velocitron or something? I haven’t been out in a bit.

Have we even seen Galaxy Shuttle in America yet? Last I heard it was only along the Canadian border at the most.

 

Nope. There's suposed to be a Velocitron Hotrod coming too.

But the only I ever see Deluxe wise are Blurr, Burnout and Road Rocket.

 

Hot Rod was confirmed to be in release limbo, though not explicitly cancelled. My guess is Galaxy Shuttle was just far enough into production and release when Walmart dropped the axe to make it to some international stores (I don't think there have been any US sightings), while Hot Rod was a little further behind in development and therefore is now in limbo. He might still come out as a Selects release or something, but my guess is that he'll cancelled.

Yep, it was during a roundtable last month.

 

Yeah, I was there. Ben MacCrae was very careful to not say it was "cancelled", but did say that there were no plans for it to be released at this time, and that the exclusives (at least at Walmart) for the spring toy season were focusing around ROTB. Ben actually seemed surprised that we knew about it at all and said he thought the stock photos of it that went around had been taken from a system that shouldn't have been publicly accessible. This makes me think the decision to shelve this was already a while back, but either way, my take is that beyond the few samples used for the product photos and to get final approvals, Velocitron Hot Rod was probably never actually manufactured. Galaxy Shuttle has been a mess in terms of US distribution, but I think we're probably lucky that it at least got made and is/has been available in other parts of the world. If we see it on shelves in the US, it's gonna be at Ross or Ollie's or something from where Walmart dumped all the stock. It'd be nice if that happened with Hot Rod as well for the people who want it, but I just don't think there is any inventory of that to dump in the first place.

Also, YMMV but the Mount Juliet Walmart has some of the studio series Legion size from Christmas (wheelie etc) for $7. Not sure if at others or not. Also they had hauler down to $17 and $2 for legacy deluxes (out of stock atm and in store only). They did have a lio and retro starscreams in stock

Well that SUCKS. I was really looking forward to that color scheme. Dammit.

 

A Metalhawk at Chapman Hwy Wal-Mart

 

I just saw him there. He is still there. I am very not impressed. I think it is his paint. I wanted to like him. 

 

Metalhawk and Twincast at Alcoa Wal-Mart.

 

Hopefully I can paint that yellow to look more like the reflective gold of the OG. The rest of the figure seems fine; that yellow really kills it though since it takes up so much area and it's the thing you see the most. Another example of the sculpting team getting shafted by the paint team as the detailing on the yellow is outstanding.

 

I'm hoping Toyhax will save the day on this one. Some nice metallic gold stickers would help it allot.
