I've eyed the hybrid convoy. Is he worth a crap? Robot mode looks good, but his alt mode is kinda weak.

Given the small scale, the fact that his robot mode is awesomely detailed and pose-able and the fact that he comes with tons of fun accessories and surprises I'd recommend him to jsut about anyone.

Agreed. For the price and its versatile playability it's one of the best Primes out there, IMO. Get it if you can!

There are three ways dealers can get Japanese stuff for those outside Japan:

    1/ From a wholesaler supplier.
2/ From an online vendor (like exclusive Japanese sites like e-hobby or regular sites like amazon.co.jp)
3/ By trawling the back streets of Tokyo, Osaka and any other city, small town and village that they travel to/through and buy them either brand new or second hand from hobby shops.

The third option allows them to get rare/old/vintage TF's BUT the price will obviously be more than when those items first came out.

Mind you, you COULD get them cheaper if you went to Japan, and forked out the 500 or so dollars/pounds to travel there and then the added cost of hotels, train travel, etc.
