After all these years, its never really been pointed out what Wreck-Gar's alt mode is or is based on. We know most of the other G1 alt-modes, whether they are something from real life or just "cybertronic/futuristic car/plane" or whatever. Wreck-Gar is always just "motorcycle" and I don't ever recall anyone mentioning what kind of motorcycle he is. Even the Jung toy list just says Orange Motorcycle.

So imagine my surprise when I see an issue of American Iron Magazine featuring a motorcycle that looks like Wreck-Gar! I won't hot link the images, so here are the links:

I did not buy the magazine (I might if it is still there tomorrow) and I couldn't find anything online about it. Is it a real motorcycle or someone's custom creation? Obviously it is a "real" motorcycle. I might just have to buy the magazine to find out, but figured I'd post a topic about it.

It lacks the trademark Junkion spikes.

I would spend ridiculous amounts of money on modifying it to have spikes, autobot symbols and a paintjob to resemble Wreck-Gar's colours. I would never tell my insurance company about the mods tho.

Hmm, that bike does look pretty sweet and i can see the Wreck Gar resemblance. Would love to see this bike with a wreck gar accurate paint job, that would look awesome!

It also reminds me, among transformers vehicles that i would love to see, i would totally love to see a real life G1 Hot Rod car. Now THAT would be awesome!!

looks like a Harley Davidson model that Law enforcement used for their motorcycle cops back in the day (late 90's)

That's quite cool. But nowadays thanks to ANIMATED I see Wreck-Gar as a garbage truck.

They used Harleys? I always thought they were gangster bikes and police use Japanese bikes

Well I got the magazine and unfortunately, this particular motorcycle couldn't have been what Wreck-Gar was based on. It is identified as a 2005 Harley Davidson (FLTR) Road Glide. Other information:
2005 Harley-Davidson FLTRI Road Glide Values, 2005 Harley-Davidson FLTRI Road Glide Prices, Specs & 2005 Harley-Davidson FLTRI Road Glide Book Values | NADAguides
    2013 model:
Touring Road GlideĀ® Custom | Harley Motorcycle | Harley-Davidson USA

Wikipedia says that this series was first started in 1999, so unless this body style came from an older series, it can't be this either. I will see if I can find someone who knows something about motorcycles to see if something older can be found.

Update: Well it didn't take long! There is no 100% match for Wreck-Gar as I'm told there were no square headlights in the 80s. The closest match for Wreck-Gar seems to be the Honda GL 500/650 series. Take a look at these and tell me which you think is the closest to Wreck-Gar:

1983 Honda GL 650i Silver Wing Interstate:

1982 Honda GL 500 Silver Wing:

Also if you image search for Honda GL 500, you might be able to find something even closer.
