    Is one better than the other?

    I don't see a huge difference after comparing the two.

    The wiki pecking order when it comes to Transformers:

    Wikipedia beats nothing.

    Teletraan I beats Wikipedia.

    TFwiki beats Teletraan I.

    I think I've just summed it up.

    Long story short (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), the staff of the TFwiki were the original owners/staff of the Teletraan-1/Wikia site. Wikia changed some policies and those individuals created TFwiki. Wikia wouldn't delete the site, so some people remained and have continued to update the Teletraan-1/Wikia site.

    There are some harsh feelings regarding the split Wiki/Wikias. For anyone else responding, keep it civil and don't bash one or the other.

    TFWiki is usually more organized than the old Wikia site. I prefer using TFWiki for information, but I occasionaly visit the old Teletraan-1 Wiki.

    TFwiki is updated more frequently, with more clarity and details than Teletraan-1 is. Plus, TFwiki is better moderated, so people can't just go on and make shit up like Teletraan-1 has had happen to them in the past on occassion.

    That's the long and the short of it, yeah.

    As far as differences between the sites go, though, if you don't see 'em, then you're not looking at the right articles. TFWiki does, after all, have nearly THREE THOUSAND more of them than Teletraan. And for pre-existing articles that have been improved and enlarged since TFWiki was founded, well, just compare the pages of the big dog himself:

    Optimus Prime on Teletraan-1 (try and find the horribly-displayed link to the toy page)

    Optimus Prime on TFWIKI.Net (so bursting with information it's been split into five sub-pages)

    I'm only familiar with TFWiki, so that's where I usually go for TF information and such on the web, after checking out the resources here on TFW2005.

    Yeah, I was wondering about this myself, since I was under the impression that Teletraan-1 was the old abandoned site, and TFWiki the new one. Then I found out Teletraan-1 ALSO gets updated..and then I got confused.

    Examples:

    Transform Jr - Transformers Wiki
    vs
    Transform G?kin - Teletraan I: the Transformers Wiki - Transformers 2, Revenge of The Fallen, Animated, Toys

    * Wikia uses the INCORRECT NAME for the line
    * Wikia has ONE LINE DESCRIPTION
    * Wikia doesn't have any pictures
    * Wikia lists only 22 releases
    * Ad is smack-dab in the middle of the content
    * Has no Go-Box

    * TFWiki uses the correct name for the line
    * TFWiki has pictures
    * TFWiki has several lines of description
    * TFWiki lists all 25 releases
    * Ads are placed along the edges and don't get in the way of content
    * Has Go-Box!

    TF wiki has this article, which Wikia doesnt:
    http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Mocom_Toy

    There are tons of examples like these...

    Sad really, that this had to happen. Usually I go to TFWiki, but since Teletraan-1 appears more often on search engines such as Google, I'm sometimes lazy enough to pick it.

    y'know, a bookmark would fix that little problem right quick.

    Every once in a while I'll compare pages between the wikia and Tfwiki. Sometimes the difference is hysterical, and sometimes the new content is lifted straight from Tfwiki. I mostly just check out of morbid curiosity to see if they've made their own version of the one article I did since the wiki split.

    It is like comparing a bentley to a Yugo, and others have explained which is which.

    If you're using Firefox, when you're at TFWiki next time and you have the little search engine bar active if you click on the pull down you'll be able to actually add the search engine in TFWiki into that. It means instant easy searching without needing to worry about bookmarks.

    Yeah, I only use TFWiki if I'm searching for anything (usually toys or G1 characters). Better information than Teletraan-1, and the lack of ads ease the mind as well.

    My only negative would go towards all the little in-jokes and such. Though Teletraan-1 also has that. I could really do without it. I want information, if I want jokes- well... I'll look here.

    And I'll certainly be doing this. I have the Google searchbar up there that I never use.

    I've never seen a page that didn't have an equal balance of information, and light-hearted jokes. If I wanted clinical factsheets on something, I'd go to stuffy old Wikipedia.

    I am a fan of the TFWiki. It is really easy to navigate. It just rams knowledge into my brain.
