Personally I'm not very interested in this simply because I'm not a fan of the modern/25th anniversary style body construction. Though it's probably not feasible (and I'd likely be in an even smaller minority) I'd only be interested in human TF character figures if they could be made in the 1980s ARAH body style.

That said, having a non-transforming toy shouldn't be a big deal, however... if this was Marissa + some Junkion repainted from Wreck-Gar (one head never had a retail US release afterall), that would've made me interested.

And I'm sure fans aren't forgetting that many non-TFing Transformer toys have been produced, but don't you forget there are always fans(not me) that complain about those toys existing too! ;)

What do sub figures cost nowadays? $45 shipped? Wasn't the SDCC Starscream and all its accessories like $50 retail? While I like the idea behind Marissa I don't see that it's worth the money. Yes I understand that the run will be smaller and all that but still....

So this is being marketed to the kids who like the two-foot-tall figures that only have shoulder articulation and those AoE dino-jouster things that are pegwarming?

Put another way: Just because X exists doesn't mean that there is a demand for more X.

Oh. I didn't realize this was an intermediate step. What could it lead to?

As a TF fan, I would have been happier with a Universe Powerglide deco'd as a Rattler. At least it would have been a transformer.

    But, y'know, the old saying:
You can please some of the people some of time, and you can please some of the people some of the time. But sometimes, you can't please none of people none of the time.

    ETA:
A transforming robot that has nothing to do with the Marissa toy, without the Marissa toy.

Well, only if the point is to justify having a Marissa toy....

That old Ultra mold? Eh...not my taste in molds... and they don't do such large toys outside of Botcon sets.

They are repainting Gen. Scourge with the "Senator Ratbat" head as "Serpent O.R.", so actual TFs in GI Joe-inspired color schemes is something on their radar.

    Two things...

I was talking the last 25 years. Not just AOE toys. I could make a list of all the non-transforming Transformers produced over that period, but that could take awhile...

And this figure has been getting a lot of positive responses. Is it Universal? Not even close. Is it enough to justify making this figure? Absolutely...

Plus 6(7?) more in TFSS 3.0!

    And ~14-15 for Botcon 2015.

And was it mentioned that there might still be more club exclusives too?

Wait for Chromia to become available. Or if Hasbro do Technobots for the Combiner Wars. There aren't any current Transformers toys that would work well as Afterburner. Anyway, if Afterburner was repainted from Chromia then the character should be female with a new name since the toy is undeniably female, but she would still look like Afterburner as much as the mold would allow. I say Radarbot or Postpyro; Afterburner's Italian and French names.

Anyway, the identity of the bike isn't that important. Its just marketed as being a Transformers character because that is preferable to being some generic lifeless non-entity. Like the Shockwave G.I. Joe tank and Starscream G.I. Joe jet done in previous years which were pretty popular.

Yeah, 2015 will have more club exclusives than any previous year (freebie + BotCon + FSS + 2 store exclusives), so one of them being something experimental like a human figure is hardly unfair.

Hasbro's not going to let them make a transforming Afterburner now that making actual combiners is back in Hasbro's ballpark.

Despite a few people not being happy about a GI Joe figure and vehicle being offered to Transformer Club members, you have to admit that the club are getting their order numbers on items, mostly correct.

In recent years only the Machine Wars stuff seems to have stuck around for a long time, everything else seems to sell out fairly quickly.

No matter how many people say they don't like or want this set, the Club will order the right amount, and if the sales are lower than they expect, then they'll learn from it and hopefully not touch on it again for a while.

Well, we are getting a new Protectobots team, even if they are repaints.

I dig, I dig. I for one am actually happy that the TFCC is doing this.

I don't like being narrow minded about this subject. Marissa Fairborn is every bit a part of the Transformers canon, and to say that Transformers can **ONLY** be about the Transformers character is frankly moronic.

Looks like I'll actually have to sub to the club again this time around to pick her up!

Wow, that looks pretty darn good! I like the Marissa figure's deco (has a good resemblance to the character) and the bike is pretty nifty too.

But Hasbro's doing that, not FunPub.

Eh, the only thing that bugs me about it is that its probably MUCH cheaper to just repaint a Joe vehicle and Frankenstein a fig together from Joe parts. But this'll still be sold at FunPub's premium pricing.
