"Limited quantities" definitely makes it sound like these are actually "warehouse finds" or purposely held back for this event, and not literal second runs. I can only imagine Target calling up Hasbro and saying "Hai guys will u run us off another 1000 ER Thrusts 4 r nerd party plz thx" and Hasbro going "Ha guys thx for the laffs call back when u r ready to add another zero to that order bye 4 now." I mean, it just doesn't work like that.

 

I don’t think u have an idea on how toy production, or manufacturing works. While ur theory is probably somewhat true. I doubt it’s the only reason they’re doing this. We don’t even know if there are transformers but the ending being a big reveal kinda disproves ur theory.

Except that they did. It's been confirmed that the Cobra Island exclusives Wave 1 that popped up a few weeks ago at some locations are new production codes.

Wave 1 of CI had practically sold through completely. Any stock of it popping up is going to be a whole new production run.

 

Well, that's certainly interesting. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of exclusives are already somewhat expensive to produce due to their smaller production runs. At a point, it's not cost effective to do an even smaller run. Could they just be doing a second run in the same amount? I don't know anything about Cobra Island, I don't even know what figures are exclusive to Target.

 

I don't know about the case for Transformers, but I know that for GI Joe it has been selling like hot cakes. Even the repaints of the Wave 1 figures don't last more than a week on the pegs before someone picks them up.

Hasbro has been trying to course correct. Wave 1 and Wave 2 of Cobra Island were made in extremely tiny numbers. I can't imagine that Hasbro nor Target would want to go with that original smaller number due to how popular GI Joe is right now.

 

And while the recent RAM with Breaker sold out, it Did last for a couple hours and I think Barbecue is Still Available.

Maybe stock is begun to increase based on the numbers sold in the last year?

 

That's what everybody is hoping, but a lot are just anticipating a massive preorder delay/cancellation by Target.
