I saw them for the first time. I think they actually have several. (BumbleBee vs. Thrust I think, Sideswipe vs. Barricade, Bike vs. something, etc etc) though I have to say, the color is really a turner-downer. In general the packs are too "bright" for a movie line toy. Bumble Bee, for example, have bright blue skeleton aside from the armor. Sideswipe (the only one that seems like a decent re-color), has blue highlight-ish that makes him looks, imo, not bad). Barricade is... ugly. There's almost no black on it. I wish I had a cam to take the pics when I was there, but just to rant out: they are pretty ugly in general.
They've been out for a while now. I'm also not impressed overall, but for some reason the 1 figure that I want is Barricade, i LIKE that alternate japanese police deco, looks cool to me.
It seems like they're going for an animated-movie style look or something. They aren't for me, but I can see people wanting them because of how weird they look.
Depends on your personal preference, I suppose. I love them and actually ended up purchasing the Sideswipe/Barricade, Bumblebee/Thrust, and Arcee/Tailwhip packs. I'll be leaving the ICT/Sideways pack unless it goes on a severe clearance in the future. Here are some pics that I took last week. I haven't had the chance to get some Arcee/Tailwhip pics done just yet...
actually that sideswipe looks pretty smexy, Barricade I like the top just.... not the checkered sides.
It is a mod. The front part of the canopy can actually be detached with a little bit of force. Trim off a few extra pieces once you're done with that and glue the front part of the canopy to the rest. I usually don't bother modding my figures, but this was so easy and it adds a lot of movement to the head and neck!
I bought the Arcee vs. Tailwhip pack today. That Blazemaster mold still suuuuuuuuucks, but the redeco is nice. I don't plan on keeping him, I just got the set for the pretty redeco of Arcee.
Nightwind, the pics you have, don't make them look so bad...like what you did with (not) thrust...seriously they could call him something else...
God help me, I almost bit on Sideswipe/Barricade. The blue-on-silver is quite nice. Barricade...well I don't care for the mold but in car mode it's fairly neat. Still, can't afford random two-pack redecos. Trying to hold out on anyone who's going to show up in TF3, really.
I also bought the Twins vs. Sideways pack. The red is very nice on Sideways and I love the new movie accurate rust deco on the Ice Cream truck Twins.
Does anyone else's exclusives have a bit of mold degradation? It's not a HUGE deal, but I've noticed the joints and such on all of these are a bit on the loose side. He's an Apeface homage, but calling a Transformer who's JUST a plane Apeface doesn't make any sense. I do agree they should have called him something besides Thrust, though, since that name was already used.
Me too, I just bought the 2-pack for the Arcee repaint. I actually like her better than the original ROTF one. I think I like it better because of the dark grey they used. The original one is PINK and BLACK, for some reason the addition of the grey joints really breaks up the figure to me and I can see details rather than everything blending into the black. Now I just need to find something to do with Tailwhip...I could....No...What about...No...yeah he's pretty much useless although he might be cool to dislplay in alt mode with the Barricade repaint. Eh, he'll prob end up on JunkEx.
I actually really liked these exclusives. I thought they looked great, especially Sideswipe and Barricade. I'll be picking that set for sure. As for the others...I'm undecided, but if they were on clearence I would definitely snatch them up.
