I know the film is without a doubt going to get a PG-13 rating, but it seems like it's taking slightly longer than usual to get that rating issued.

Then again, the ratings for the previous two films were released via Rope of Silicon in late May 2009 and late May 2011.

It is taking an awfully long time just to say that it is PG-13. What gives?

Big films from big studios get the advantage of they get clues at what the MPAA doesn't like for the rating they are shooting for so they can keep making changes until they hit that rating they are shooting for. Could be a re-edit away from PG-13.

There is a really great documentary film on the dirty little secrets about the rating system titled This Film is Not Yet Rated. Worth a watch since they have people like the South Park guys comparing how it worked on their early independent films vs their films for the big studios.

yeah, didn't spielberg have to campaign to get dotm PG-13?

it's a shame it can't just be rated R. but hey, PG-13 will make it more money, so i'm all for it.. i'd just like to see an unrated extended version.

I hope there's no dang F-bombs in this. Can't stand hearing it in movies. I hear enough of it in everyday life.

They rarely use it in Transformers though, so that's good!

This is hardly an issue of whether it is going to be PG-13 or R. It will be undoubtedly be an edgy and really over the top PG-13

But of course with the MPAA, there are the formalities such as little nitpick things including if a scene just appears too "intense" for a PG-13 audience, they need something done to it. I'm positive that Michael Bay shot this very very edgy to the point where the action/violence will be on questionable levels of whether it is or not suitable for kids. Clearly with the comments from Titus Welliver, it isn't but they will make the necessary edits.

The big question really is how much they edited it out.

Transformers will never ever in a million years be an R-rated film. That's just straight up nonsense

None in TF1, one that's barely audible in TF2, but in TF3 there's one from Bruce, a cut off one from Sam and a cut off one from Brains.

cut off ones are ok, it's kinda a joke. like if you say just "0h for.." you don't need to finish the sentence, people laugh!

I'm not bothered about swearing in general, I don't think we should have taboo words, but I agree "f-bombs" don't belong in TF. I put them in the Same "wrong place wrong time" box as bumblebee pissing, wrecking nads, up skirting minicons! and much more!

I like some good "fucks" in my dialogue. There's a power to it... It's very phonetically pleasing. A good writer and actor can make very effective used of it.

Seriously. Say it out loud. "Fuck".

    It's a wonderful word.

Well, like I have said, I'm pretty sure its going to be PG-13, what with the Oreo campaign, the large overwhelming amount of toys, and children gift bags I've seen. It just seems like its taking its time.

Then again, it seems films usually get their ratings announced on Tuesdays on that Rope of Silicon site so we might get word tomorrow perhaps.

Also, speaking of merchandise, I could have sworn when I was at Wal-Mart the other day I saw a Transformers 4 beach towel with Stinger on it.

Well considering there are coloring and sticker books out now, all the more signs pointing towards this being PG-13.

If I ever hear Prime say something like "Megatron, you motherfucker" I'd probably actually die laughing.
