Now, Hasbro, THIS is what a 35th year anniversary should be! Homage the heck out of things, give awesome closure on past fiction, and write something WORTH READING. (Not that I can read it until it gets translated, but y'know what I mean)

 

As people have already clarified, TakaraTomy does not have the budget and marketing direction these days to do regular JG1 remakes as in Legends and Unite Warriors. So the limited number of JG1 remakes that will come in the foreseeable future will be under the new Generations Selects banner. And as you can see below, TakaraTomy has evidently commissioned someone else to do Generations Selects tie-in online manga.

Hopefully the epilogues mean we get more content in those eras. I especially hope we finally get a proper continuation to Animated.

 

Gonna miss seeing these and the occasional shit-shows they caused always provided a good laugh.

Hopefully the team that worked on these continues making TF content in the future, as a lot more love and care went into these than the majority of IDW's recent offerings.

Sakamoto should work together with Trigger and make something good, so we don't have to settle with Cyberverse and the IDW Reboot.

 

He's Optimus. He may be a little known Japanese version, but it's kind of a stretch to use him as an example to answer that comment.
But Snaptrap and Big Powered are hopeful signs.

 

he may be optimus, but he is a rather obscure upgrade when all is said and done. when asking a majority of non takara fans about various forms of g1 optimus the most likely ones will be original, power master, g2 and laser, with pepsi prime being the most likely 5th. star convoy isnt from a cartoon and hes from a portion of the fiction that was never brought to the west, therefore he fits the definition of rather obscure. hell one could argue he is more obscure than snaptrap and big powered because at least they made it into cartoons

 

"DEVIL GOD FIRE CONVOY" would make a great band name.

 

I'm looking at Turtler (Snaptrap) (and hopefully his buddies) and Star Convoy (as well as the possible Super Megatron) as all being originally planned for Legends before being moved over to Selects.

Going forward, who decides what goes into Selects?. Hasbro generally seems to prefer straight repaints (Swoop, Ricochet, Red Wing, Smokescreen) for their exclusives (they may add on or include some extras, perhaps even a new head (Combat Megatron), which can make a difference.), while Takara seems to have no problem going all-out with the remolding, even when it's extensive.

I actually like repaints, but I also like remolded designs. (Dai Atlas is looking really good now that he has SL leg fillers. No regrets about getting him now). I really hope it will be a case of both companies doing their own thing and then selling their figures as part of Selects. I really don't want, say, Hasbro, calling all the shots on what should be released. The last thing I want is for all of the later Selects offerings to be repaints.

 

Yes. I hope Takara still has freedom in that aspect.
I'm still waiting to see a review of the other leg fillers to make a decision, but it's great that third parties came through for Dai  

 

Fuck the unholy " brand unification" Hasbro. Fuck you all.

Closure. Some things needed to end properly. We fans only had one episode of Zone. Also many characters didn't have a "final fate". Some those are many Cybertrons from Micron Legend, Airachnid, Predaking and Shockwave from Prime, and Snowstorm and Irontread from Superlink.

 

Rattrap looks like a finger puppet.  

 

I quite enjoyed the Legends universe, it really bucked the trends and did something fresh and interesting.

It's a shame to see it go, but at least it got a good send-off.

 

Nice, like the ending with Armada Starscream and the RID panels. The ending is great!
