    No.

You're losing Universe for the movie.

    regarding gimmicks:

It all depends on the gimmick. I like the concept of Headmasters, Targetmaster, ect. but I sure wouldn't want a whole LINE of them. A few here and there are cool. But with Armada, EVERYONE had a Mini-Con gimmick, in Energon, EVERY Autobot had some kind of combining gimmick, and in Cybertron, EVERYONE had force chip gimmicks.

Line-wide gimmicks just limit the entire line, IMO.

"Important products such as Movie Optimus Prime normally go to veteran designers."

My favorite part of the interview.... and figured as much.

Oh, I think that's essentially what happened. I was simply pointing out that this is a clear (to me) example of where Takara is not wiser than Hasbro for a change.

its good to actually see the people who design the toys, so often we think 'hasbro' or 'takara' but behind each toy is some clever mind.

Fit For natalie and shroobmaster: I just wanted to say thank you. Both your posts were great. But please, ignore him ... I implore you. :D

I didn't want to read his ramblings, and had to in order to get the context for your replies. :p

    QFT. That is a FACT.

Exactly. I still don't get why so much fans still operate under the assumption that the only toys designed by Hasbro are the Energon Dinobots, and Titanium.

    QFT!

Credit to those who deserve it! And designers from Hasbro and Takara do deserve the credit.

Wiser isn't subjective enough to describe whether Universe Powerglide upgraded size was a good decision or not. I can understand both camps: those wanting a Powerglide small because he's a mini-bot, and those wanting him huge because he's an A-10. In that respect, IMO it wasn't a bad decision from TakaraTomy's designers.

gimmicks such as head masters or tagetmasters at least are transforming gimmicks and were cool anyway, esp the headmaster with the head having two or even three modes.

cyberkey gimmick, well thats at the bottom of the cool gimmick scale.

Thing is--the A-10's not very big. I've seen more of them than just about any other modern military jet. The F-14 and F-15 are bigger. It may be an attacker, but it's simply not big by any standard. (and most attack planes are even smaller---A-4 and A-7 are quite small). A B-52 or something, THAT justifies a desire for a "big" toy.

If they wanted an A-10 to be that big, than the Classic Seeker mold should be about the size of the Masterpiece.

I'll certainly concede this point. Indeed, my whole point (one of them, anyway) is that this is subjective. What I think was "the wrong choice" is something someone else may well love.

(the other main point was that there's way too much Hasbro-hate going on here, without any acknowledgment of disapproval of any of Takara's decisions. The Powerglide thing, while subjective, was certainly one there was widespread comment on not that long ago. Enough that I know his "excessive" size was indeed off-putting to many.)

I could see Powerglide remade into a Legends class if Universe/Henkei resumes after the ROTF line. Bumblebee got a Legends after a bigger toy was made. I know I'd hit it, and they could sure do the Micro homage too.

But the A-10 it's still bigger than whatever armored truck Onslaught alt mode is based on, right? ;)

True. And I'm in total agreement with you regarding all the Hasbro hate in this thread.

Is it possible Powerglide was designed with the scale of the Masterpiece seeker mold in mind?

Noooo!!! I've finally come to accept a roided' up Powerglide and ordered the USA edition. He hangs out at the same gym as Bonds and ARod.

I'd rather they legend class Seaspray.

As for the Hasbro vs. Takara mentality. Why can't we appreciate both?

More often than not, I'll go with the Takara version because I prefer the G1 deco. But you can't dismiss the fact that without Hasbro, there would be no Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, etc.

Anyone got the measurements for a Universe Powerglide to figure out what scale he is?

Heh. If they thought Powerglide needed to be huge, what would they do with Seaspray?

Which are both Legends. No problem. I was saying, if they insisted on doing Powerglide as HUGE because they thought the vehicle mode warranted it, Seaspray, with those tiny windows and doors on its hovercraft mode, also would warrant a HUGE toy....

Multiple Trans-fans having difficulty wrapping their heads around a new approach to classic material...? No way!
