Ha! I only did it for a bit of fun. I'm sure it's a lock for Dinobot without my help. As or 2019 Convoy will win through virtue of popularity alone unless TT mess him up spectacularly, and I'm sure they wont. Megatron is absolutely the underdog in that race, he looks nigh on perfect, more so that Dinobot in fact, but he has a smaller fanbase than Prime for sure.

 

Who knows, some MP-44 haters might latch onto the strongest competition just to beat him!

Agreed that MP-43 looks incredible with basically no compromises. I noticed how small the BW fanbase appears to be, but I wonder if it's just on these boards? Even the MP Appreciation thread doesn't get enough BW love. C'mon MP-41 owners, get your Dinobot on!

 

Heh, there are not enough MP-44 'haters' on the boards to make a difference, unless TT give people a good reason. I don't hate MP-44 as you know, he just doesn't do it for me and neither does his price tag. If he wins I'm sure he'll deserve it. I just can't see MP-43 being anything short of glorious and, all things being equal, he'd be in the running as best MP of 2019...but we all know all things are not equal  

It's not that the Beast Wars fanbase is small, it's that it's considerably smaller than the G1 fanbase. I do think a lot if it is to do with there being more Beast Wars fans who are also fans of G1 that the other way around. Sure there are people who feel a strong 'allegiance' to Beast Wars over G1 but there are far more G1 fans that just wont accept Beast Wars. The MP Appreciation thread doesn't get enough BW love because its often drowned out by G1 discussion of worse shouted down by entitled 'Geewuners'. Remember the debacle over whether BW should be discussed at all in that thread at all? Crazy times.

 

As long as they vote BW Megatron.  

 

I seem to remember that happening more in the speculation thread than the appreciation thread (which is generally pretty positive and not too Geewunnery as far as I've seen).

But yeah I guess you're right that there are too many G1 only fans, which is a damn shame since Beast Wars is an excellent show and I think pays great homage to G1.

Makes me want to get some BW MPs just to even those odds!

Not too many, we all like what we like, but an overwhelming majority. More accurately there's too few BW fans considering both it's quality and what it did for the franchise.

You really should they've all been absolute beauties.

I love Beast Wars. I love and collect Masterpiece.

I did not enjoy Cheetor. At all.

I do hope for some news on the Dinobot reissue/Hasbro Asia issue...

Given the overall bias/impression on these boards, I would guess that Sunstreaker will win.

 

If I can swing it I'd love to pick up Optimus Primal and Megatron, at least for a start. A Cheetor reissue from Takara will be bought as well.

Sunstreaker came out in 2017, he came second in that year's vote (just ahead of Cheetor, and far behind Megatron).

That's quite a technicality. What I mean is, I very much doubt many - if any - in The West got a new production piece before January 1, 2018.

But, I GUESS he belongs to 2017.

Yeah I know, I made the 2017 poll before I'd even gotten my Sunstreaker. But some people did get him in 2017, just like others did get MP-36+ in 2018 (myself included).

 

That's a shame, tolerance issues aside I think he's one of the best looking MP to date, certainly way up in my top ten...number 3 in fact. Check out the link in my sig and maybe let us know your own top ten?

 

I think the BW fan base is almost as big as the G1's, but they are less vocal and pasionate (the geewunners), I based my previous statement on how well BW MP sell, the same goes to the 3P BW toys.

 

I really can’t understand the amount of criticism Cheetor gets. To me he’s entirely on par with Primal in terms of quality, accuracy, playability, poseability, and surpasses him in the looks department- his transformation is naturally a touch more complicated but that’s only when compared to Primal who has such a simple switch of forms. He’s got that gappy back in beast mode and exposed blue on the back of his hind legs but beast mode is crazy poseable and also expressive as hell.
I’m sure I’ve heard all the criticisms but I just don’t share any of those views. Cheetor is top notch in my eyes.

I wouldn’t say we’re less passionate; less entitled and possessive of the brand as a whole maybe and I think we tend to stick to the BW appreciation thread for all discussions of everything Beast Wars related.
I won’t go anywhere near the MP appreciation or speculation threads just because so much of it doesn’t interest/concern me and therefore I don’t feel like throwing my pebble into an ocean of G1 based conversation. They won’t want to hear what I have to say either so it just makes more sense to keep Beast Wars talk secluded to where it’s relevant and appreciated.

I'd have to agree. I love MP Primal, but Cheetor's beast mode was executed much better than Primal's beast mode was. The one thing that really hinders Primal's beast mode is legs, they're not very poseable and I really hate how his robot feet just hang out the back of his beast feet, I wish they hid inside the ankle like the original Kenner figure.

The only thing I don't like about Cheetor are his shoulders in robot mode, one of mine won't lock in place correctly (can't remember which one). That and other than not being able to hold his Quasar Canon very well, he's fantastic.

 

Sadly, I purchased the proper c-clips, installed them, and BOTH shoulders still seized. As in, both shoulders were completely locked in one position and the only way to unlock them was to shave off the two pegs on each shoulder. Transformation was not affected but still what a pity.

That kitty is simply wondrous to me, and the robot mode ... he's coolness incarnate.

 

Did anyone ever work out what causes the battery drain issue? I'd still very much like to be able to use the light up feature but can't be arsed to pop the batteries in and out every time. I'd hoped so sort of fix would have come to 'light' by now.
