For the faux raptor head, in order to get it flush, you gave to make sure the gold double joints are in the right position and flush. This is how you know that the entire assembly is in the right position.

Just like the CGI model, the gold neck assembly should be recessed into the chest.

It’s unfortunate a lot of users are having an issue with the shoulder joint. Mine seems to have avoided that QC issue and I’ve had no problems transformering him between modes. With that said, this figure is near perfect on my end (I would have liked to have had the final copper coloring be the same as the initial pictures). Even though the engineering is going to be hell, I’m really wishing for Terrorsaur to be announced after Megatron.

I just spent some time transforming Dinobot back and forth - probably for the last time in a long time. Bot mode is just so damn good.

I’d also love a decent take on Terrorsaur. The original BW toy was....not good haha.

Alright, survived! Those joints on the rotate blade have destroyed my thumbs.

I received mine from AJ and have transformed him once, very carefully, after reading about the ratchet issues here. There seems to be some opinions flying around that the only breakages have been caused by excessive force. In my opinion excessive force will accelerate a breakage but it’s inevitable over time. Take a look at the ratchets on my copy. The nub is barely in the recess on the right arm. Even with some lubrication it’s going to fail eventually. I’ll be sending mine back at AJ for a replacement in the hope that I get a better copy. Besides all that what a figure!!

He does stand unaided but has quite weak ankle joints. Try repositioning lower parts of his legs (the thighs are not possible) and ankles, you can also use the claws to steady his stance. As for the neck it doesn't lock in place but be sure to fold the flap on the back of the raptor head in so when you push the head/neck assembly down it sits flush with the rest of the figure.

Love all those dynamic pose pictures. Might even start watching Beast Wars now.

This is the biggest difference between the two shoulder joints that I have seen so far. Our first theory was that maybe a difference in the stiffness of the spring could account for the difference, but now I'm not so sure. It seems that the only reason for this much difference in the gaps, assuming that the size/width of the parts are the same for the two shoulders is:

    TakaraTomy Masterpiece Dinobot Page 633 TFW2005 The 2005 Boards.png

Which means that the gold parts in the upper photo COULD BE and SHOULD BE closer to each other to have the same gap as the lower photo. Seems like factory misassembly to me, at least for an unfortunate few.

Would I be one of them? I don't know. TBH, I'm too scared to find out.

Yeah, I'm officially scared. Have contacted them and still nothing. It NEVER happened: the tracking number has always been sent to me MAX two days after the warning e-mail. Now an entire week has passed. The sad thing is that I was not only waiting for my 3 copies of Dinobot, but for other action figures I've bought for my brother and my girlfriend as well. That was a very costly package, for which I've saved for months.
Does someone had similar experiences with Nippon Yasan? In case of lost goods, do they re-send them without further expenses for the customer? If not, this is gonna hurt a lot.

It is an amazing head sculpt!
Also, do you know about how the upper teeth extend if you open the jaw a little bit more? Looks from your pictures like you weren’t making use of that.
Hope this makes the head even more amazing for you!

Is there a paint color you guys recommend for the metallic blue to paint words if it chips in the future? Current figure no chipping

I find that the worst chipping on the figure happens on the silver-white rib bones when in Dino mode as the pieces rub up against others on the inside.

This shoulder issue seems like it’s becoming a real problem. Think I’ll have to keep my copy MISB till a reissue becomes available. Hopefully they can rectify this on a second run and I’ll buy a copy of that to be on the safe side . Time will tell .

My replacement one has better shoulder tabs than the other. Not bad. Can anyone still recommend what paint colors and what brand can be used for this guy?

That seems to be what everyone is doing, although it is unclear if that is/ will actually help

Good luck with that; you may end up with one that is even worse. what is the reason for replacement? Not broken, but may break in the future?
