Yeah they really drug this one out too long. I understand if he wasn't going to be ready until July, but the teaser was way too early then. This line (and some other things) seem like they are starting to be mismanaged a bit, which is a shame.

 

Seeing how well Sunstreaker came out (and how positive the overall reception seems to be) I'm expecting Dinobot to follow suit. Takara really is on a roll with these figures, albeit a rather slow one  

 

Same with sunstreaker. We had complete pics of the final deco and all the gimmicks 6 months ago.

Sunstreaker was both announced and revealed fully painted/finished 3 months after Dinobot was teased and was then released 6 months before him...it's not even close to the same. This is a very cruel and unusual torture.

 

Maybe I missed it, but have any reputable retailers who usually get Hasbro Asia stock corroborated this cancelled story yet?

 

Help me understand where the mismanagement is here. Bad qc, lower quality materials, increased pricing are problems I can get behind. But I dont see the issue with it being revealed too long before release. How does that negatively effect anyone? It’s actually more beneficial from their point of view because it allows more people to become aware of the product which then potentially means more sales. So I am being sincere here, can you please explain how it’s actually a bad practice?

 

Speaking purely for myself, it’s been so long that my initial flash of excitement has waned and I’m now wondering if there’s not better things to spend this money on.

 

Yeah for me too. I doubt it will seriously affect sales but the prolonged wait is really taking the excitement out of it for me. Personally I wont be canceling my pre-order but between the wait and the price TT really are testing poor fanboy saps like me who just feel they HAVE to have one of these. Sure I'll be super excited on the day he's released and eventually arrives on my doorstep but right now Im sort of resentful about how much I have to pay and how long I have to wait.

I feel exactly the same. With takara dragging out the mp dinobot figure, and weijing dragging out releasing an oversized optimus primal, i am starting to lose all happiness in this hobby. I understand things take time, but in the case of weijing, the figure was teased well over a year and not one update. I even messaged them on here, with no answer, yet they replied to other board members. Anyway, i am feeling the same as you over the mp dinobot. I was all in on purchasing 2 as he is my favorite TF character, but now im debating on just sellinh off the few figures i have and stop collecting altogether.

Good. I think MP KOs are awful from the standpoint that less people end up supporting the official line

 

Haha I don't know what you guys are talking about, I'm crossing off days on my calendar, being excited about one more day closer to Dinobot! I'm super impatient too, but if anything it puts more wind in my sails for the excitement I have. It is going to be a long 7 months. But well worth it, in my opinion. This is probably their most challenging and intricate release ever. If I were them I would be hyping it up early, too. Hopefully the next BW character will be a quick turn around like Cheetor was. I remember waiting forever for Primal too, for what it's worth.

Also, for retailers who seem to get Hasbro Asia stuff, I'd look to the ones that offered the diecast accessories with Primal(s) & Cheetor. That is a Hasbro Asia thing and not a Takara thing. TFSource got them if I recall correctly. Someone ask them?

 

that is an over generalization. I have both. I will be buying the official Dinobot, but if they ever KO him, I will probably buy one of those as well. I know it seems as thought people will buy the KO over the official, but that is not always the case. I buy KO's, but I usually also get the official version...I just like owning the official product. But in cases like MP-36 with all his paint issues, yeah, I am sticking to the KO.

 

Whole lotta folks out there with the kneejerk "I'll wait for the KO" reaction though.

 

Perhaps it's worth pointing out (again) that the initial Dinobot tease at last year's Wonderfest did not come from Takara, but rather Dengeki Hobby. Really it's no different from the super-early reveals of Wheeljack and Bumblebee coming from BBTS way back when. Takara's official Dinobot announcement was not abnormally early.

 

Well at that price....I sorta get it. But for me, I love Dinobot and thus I must own the official. Also...there is no guarantee that he will get KOed....neither primal nor cheetor ever did.
