Kinda surprised they didn't paint the HFGs silver like Hasbro did.

 

Do you buy the Hasbro and Takara versions of all the Combiner Wars teams?

I have considered ordering the Takara sets but talked myself out of them so far ha ha!

 

I have the regular Hasbro ones. I don't like its much as the others . The hips are too weak. It makes him almost un-posable.

 

Not all of them; passed on Hasbro Superion/Menasor/Defensor and completely skipping Victorion. But as of late, I've been getting the Hasbro versions and eventually the TakaraTomy sets when they come out.

I'm definitely getting this set as I passed on CW Prime for this version and like the colors of the '84 Autobots better. The Hasbro '84 team/Bruticus I will eventually either sell or just use as spare parts for customs.

What I'm anxious to see is the illustration they put in with the instructions.

The colors really look good and vibrant on him in combined mode. It looks good too knowing that this Prime will have the fixed hips too. It's a little too expensive for me to get just for that (I'd be more tempted with a Masquerade themed release) but for what it is, it's not a bad set for what it is despite the price. I wish Hasbro could have found a way to release the red and blue Prime with corrected hips like they did with Motormaster.

I just checked his latest video and I didn't either.

Hmmmm, if this ever goes on sale I may hafta pick it up.

 

HasTak should do a Sideswipe from the Breakdown mold, its basically a no-brainer.

 

I half wonder if the lack of Sideswipe is due to the fact Sideswipe is currently featuring in Robots in Disguise, and Hasbro wants to avoid having two competing versions of Sideswipe on the shelf. Three, if that rumoured Masterpiece release comes off.

 

That could explain why Prowl was used over Jazz as the Deadend repaint too...

I really like this set and I may pick it up, but Ironhide bothers me. He really should be orange. Show accuracy for these guys is a bit redundant seeing as they never combined in the show, Ironhide has a different alt mode altogether and in the very next set we have a toy-accurate Galvatron over show-accurate so it's not like they can't break their obsessively show-accurate track record. Convoy Grand Prime is nice... but he could've been great.

 

I think it could be that and/or that Hasbro mentality of not having 2 'x' in the same class and/or wave, so just as CHUG Galvatron was downgraded from a voyager to avoid two 'tanks' maybe here it was not having 2 red 'cars' in the same deluxe wave.
