I have my fingers crossed the Masterpiece gets a shade of that glorious magenta!

 

I dunno. It could be my moniter, but I'm not crazy about that colour. And for Japan, it might've been nice if they'd silvered or chromed the engine. I know it's not ideal for Animated, but that translucent grey plastic doesn't look the best.

 

Yeah, while i like the magenta, the engine, exhaust and wing are missed opportunities in a line full of shiny paint.

 

That to me looks like it's hand-painted. If you look inside the arms, you'll see it matches the bow in terms of colour, and has that sparkly plastic common to a lot of Animated figures. Given the dodgy paint around the flames, something doesn't look right to me.

 

It's not bad. At least this will be a viable alternative if the Hasbro version is impossible to find like Arcee, or gets cancelled.

Takara's Arcee is a complete no-go cuz of that ugly ass brown.

 

I love the maroon, but hate the Japanese Animated figure trend of only applying it to certain areas. (for some reason his ankles are bare. Unpaintable plastic perhaps?) Also, it's metallic, and not my thing.

 

I will be picking up the TRU exclusive Rod after looking at those photo's. Looks like a color a woman would pick to match her lipstick.

 

I am ALL about the colour, but I'm with Split Lip in my disappointment that they've carried on the now-standard Japanese Animated approach of making it metallic and only slapping it on certain parts of the figure.

 

I will wait for the TRU version.

 

It's the closest thing we've ever gotten to G1 Hot Rod's cartoon model color on a figure that's a Hot Rod/Rodimus. Granted it's not accurate to the Animated show (neither is Hasbro's). As he's a very dark maroon. I think it's pretty neat.

The color differences between the painted metallic maroon and the unpainted plastic on the ankles and bow are not really noticeable on the release (or close to release) version. See pics of Rodimus on display at the Tokyo Toy Show.

It appears that for its stock photos, Takaratomy used a figure cast in the same plastic colors as Hasbro's then painted on the metallic maroon. The release version's plastic has been switched from reddish orange to maroon to better match the paint.

 

I dunno, paint in the chest area where the flame is look sloppy to me

 

Was really hoping for chromed engine and mufflers. Oh well, he still looks awsumtastic.

Crikey... I'm still holding out hope beyond hope that this will get a Hasbro release. This and Blackout. Sure they keep showing the toys at displays etc.. but you never know.

Blackout and Rodimus in a "Space bridge Stand-off!!" 2-pack would just about make my head assplode.

 

Rodimus is coming to the US as a Toys 'R' Us exclusive this fall. So at least you'll be able to find him.

As for Blackout, you may want to save for the Takara one.
