Oh, man! What an incredibly cool bit of ephemera. Maybe I should get it and frame it to hang on my gallery wall.

    *clicks link, sees price

    Nnnnnnooooooope.

But hey, congrats to whomever has the pockets deep enough to score it. That’s an awesome document.

The OG Diaclone line had three decoes for 4WD Hi-Lux: black (G1 Trailbreaker), blue (SG Trailbreaker, GS Breaker), and yellow (no TF character yet)

It was Hoist who had a new deco in G1 never used for 4WD Wrecker Type.

Well, they *did* make them. It mostly started with the Ultraman eggs which, while the ultras were basically the same, the monsters had really unique tricks to a lot of them. When they got popular they branched out to Godzilla and did a wave or 2 of those though I don't think they lasted long. They also did Disney ones with Cars, Toy Story, Big Hero 6, etc. Then, for whatever reason, they just canceled it out of nowhere. Shockingly, you can still get a couple fully sealed for like $20 on eBay right now.

No. Takara was still releasing Diaclone and Micro Change in 1984. トランスフォーマー was limited to a small test market run (using the Hasbtro toys, I think) in 1984. Takara's own 戦え! 超ロボット生命体 トランスフォーマー line wasn't officially launched until 1985.

Those are Choro-Q vehicles (better known in the US as "Penny Racers"), not Minicars. They are the inspiration for the Micro Change Mini Car Robos that would become the Minicars Bumblebee and Cliffjumper (plus "Bumper").

This is pretty neat - thanks for sharing! I don't think it's worth even a hundred bucks, though.

That's a pretty cool piece of nostalgia I think I used to own that lion looking thing that transformed into a ball. No idea what that was called

Can we please avoid Politics when we're talking about a toyline centered around Giant Robots that turn into Cars, Trucks, planes, boats, and whatever else the designers can get away with please?

I’m confused. The front page says “Takara’s 1984 World Fair Catalog which was part of the part of the presentation that convinced Hasbro representatives to bring the toys to the US.”

I thought it was well documented that this happened a year earlier at the 1983 Tokyo Toy Show. There’s even video of it
    (Takara booth is at 1:30)

Way before the interwebs I had the wrong belief that TF was a JP show ala Macross tha Hb adapted but in reality was an American concept which used Jp designed toys. So I thought too that it was 1984 Jp when it should have been 1985 Jp.
But boy, all those Takara products even way back in Japan:drool:  the SRP on tbe closest wbich is the revived Hal....Diaclone line is now priced at MP44 levels:cry

I wouldn't mind trying out Diaclone reboot if their prices weren't that batshit expensive. 50 bucks for a 10 cm toy is really something.

Diaclone collectors are like the furries of the toy collecting side of things, suspiciously rich and hiding in plain sight

Really doesn't help too I've heard some nightmare stories about having mainline tiers of design choices/ QC, like Convoy's shoulder ratchets breaking due to the ratchets not being reinforced, some tabs are too small etc.

Kinda scary that costlier doesn't automatically translate to higher quality. I blame us adults for allowing companies like TT to bleed our wallets dry for nostalgia:lolol  guilty as charged!
