Crap, I don't know which one to get. They both look good.

I guess I'll go US. Availability nd price are usually deciding factors when faced with these sorts of dicisions.

 

The extra paint apps really do something for the mold, I even like the lack of the tattoos, just not enough for me to justify the price.

 

Nice comparison shots, but I'm more than happy with my tattooed Leader version.

 

The more realistic deco on the MP one does look better in alt-mode, but honestly the tatts don't bug me enough to spend the extra money.

If I had the spending cash that I could just throw at it, then sure, I'd probably get the Takara one. But I don't, so I'll go for the slightly more affordable version.

 

these pictures shed some light on the "movie masterpiece" starscream. I might just get him.

 

Maybe its me (maybe because I don't mind the "tattoos") but I like the Hasbro version better. Sure price pays a part in it, but it has more "character" to me.

 

I would be SHOCKED if Hasbro doesn't issue a repaint similar to the Takara MP version 6 months from now!

You're not alone. I usually don't go for the Cybertronian look either, but I like the tats on SS for some reason. And yeah, when you consider that Hasbro's SS is only $30 on Walmart.com it makes it tough to go for the Takara version (for peeps in the US at least).

 

I haven't been following this release too closely, since I don't care for the Bay robot style, but the sexy jet mode makes this tempting. Any idea if SS will be roughly scaled with the existing MP Seekers?

I assume it may have something to do with how incredibly ingrained "Blackbirds are black" is. Even the most non-plane-savvy person can identify the Blackbird---and knows they're black.

Same reason toy stealth fighters, if not black, are at least always very very dark blue or green. It's just an inherent aspect to their look.

The jet mode under carriage kibble is horrible. Doesn't deserve the MP tag.

 

It's not really that bad. Up until you hit the tail, it all follows the contours of the real thing relatively well.

 

MP Prime has little feeties in truck mode.

Clearly, we should write to the man who designed both of them and explain to him what deserves the tag and what does not.
